Open game from desktop and it brings up the launcher, press continue or launch and it loads part of the game then crashes and says “The UE4-ConanSandbox Game has crashed and will…” and then “Fatal error!” and nothing I’ve tried helps at all, verifying files, updating drivers and even deleting and reinstalling the game. No similar guides seem to help and there’s no way to report a bug like this properly, any help?
Please post the game log
- Right-click the game in Steam → Manage → Browse local files. This will open the installation folder
- Navigate to
ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs\
- Grab the
ConanSandbox.log
right after a crash or the corresponding older timestamped log with the crash (it gets cleared if you restart the game and saved as a timestamped backup instead) - Upload it here with the Upload button:
If you can’t use that button yet because the forum says your account is too new, you can just level it up by opening a few random threads and scrolling to the bottom and spend a few minutes “reading” like 5 of them, it’s just an automated spam protection so you’ll get a notification that your account leveled up
That’s the only thing I could find, is that correct?
Yes, unfortunately it doesn’t really contain any information as to why the game is crashing
There might be more clues in your directx / system information logs like other software conflicting and throwing errors at the same time for example.
A lot of times though these types of crashes where you don’t have much to go on are very hard to diagnose, especially over the internet, very often people end up doing a windows reinstall and the problem magically goes away.
Anyway, to get the sysinfo and dxdiag log you can do the following
- Hit Win + R to open the run box
- Type msinfo32 in the box and click okay
- On the window that appears click File → Export
- Save it to a location then attach the file here to your post
- Do the same with dxdiag in the run box and clicking the Save All Information button on that
Msinfo.txt (1.5 MB)
and this one
DxDiag.txt (90.4 KB)
