Game mode: Single-player Type of issue: Bug Server type: PvE
So it’s probably in the game since volcano people are fighting each other and sepermeru bearers attack you, but some world bosses are fighting with surrounding mobs.
I only discovered Rotbranches do this (I am level 40, so I avoid world bosses most of the time). One at Shattered springs with rocknoses and the other in the taiga with wolves (next to Circle of swords).
It seems if you are just in the rendering distance, the mobs DO deal damage to the boss, but the boss doesn’t until you go closer.
Good way to gather some xp and keys if you stack bleed on the boss right before it dies and kill the mobs, so they won’t accidentally steal your kill, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be that way.
It’s kind of a double bug:
they fight each other
from afar the boss deals no damage.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Run around in the exiled lands
Find a world boss where minions are around too
See them attack each other, but the boss deals 0 damage
Now that you mention it, I passed the Rotbranch at the Springs recently and the rocknoses started attacking it while it just stood there ignoring them. It wasn’t a range thing, I could stand right next to him too and he didn’t do anything. He only started attacking when he was almost dead.
I was there for brimstone and not him, so I didn’t really think about it much and decided it was an odd one-off glitch, but if you’ve had a similar experience, it might not have been.
Yepp, sometimes it does not attack back at all, but I noticed battle noises - the bick smackdown sounds - when I once ran around gathering brimstones, that’s why I got curious what’s going on.
@Eudas I’m currently doing a challenge run (no legendaries, no thralls only one wolf, and it’s nordheimer-themed) so it does not really bothers me it just makes my life easier
But I still don’t think it’s normal. We’ll see if we got an answer from Funcom!
This is a performance saving setting. If no player characters are at a certain distance, damage calculations (among other things) are not being calculated to avoid performance issues from many simulations going on in the world at any given time.
