Type of issue: on map coordinates 11d I can’t place fish traps in the stream. I have tried everything, fully submerging them, half submerging them, on a foundation, closer to the shore in the middle. Everything.
I get this error with a red X every time
“MUST BE PLACED IN WATER”
It will let me place shellfish traps but not regular fish traps

Yes, it’s still being supported. A big update is in the pipe and will be around sometime soon. Fish traps have been broken for awhile. We all hope they get fixed soon.
I totaly agree with you about all these issues about fishing: to place fish traps, decay of fishes in the trap etc.
You can obtain oil in the alchemist bench with bark and ichore. But you need a T3 or a nammed alchemist (i dont remember which one). If you have that, oil is not anymore an issue.
Find deeper water. Fish traps have been broken for many months, but only 90% broken, not 100%. Many streams and small lakes that should allow fish traps do not, but you can still find larger rivers or the ocean and place fish traps.
