Follower limit is just too low 65 third for purge base third for crafters and last for what? mount, pets ,fighters or farming golems really I will stop playing for now until it is fixed I can’t enjoy the game worrying I can’t hire anything from tavern or purge or world cages what is the point of the game if you limit my fun at least allow us to return thralls to inventory and what is the point of clan having more thrall limit than solo players ? It is unbalanced and don’t tell me about pvp I play pve make the pve settings different
The main thing is, the GPortal servers Funcom uses for their public servers are moldy potatoes. They simply cannot endure the load it takes to handle large numbers of active NPCs, which is why thrall intellect, modest at the best times, tends to plummet during rush hours.
The follower limit can be changed in server settings, so private servers may change or remove the limit if they feel adventurous. Renting a better quality server may even make those NPC barbarian hordes vaguely functional.
A shot in the dark here. Before 2.4 and the thrall limit, when people had hundreds and some even thousands of thralls out, the performance was not worse than today.
Biggest killer seem to be the taverns so far and as living settlements is going down a similar route, this is bound to get worse.
Performance is taking a pounding, with a fraction of thralls that were there before, just due to a cosmetic change.
I actually would prefer to be able to put up cosmetic thralls to guard bases and make a base looking lively, as opposed to a handful of workers lying in my bed and opening the doors to my base all day around
Actually, being in a clan punishes players in regards to thrall numbers. If you do the math, you can see, that there are less thralls per player available in a clan as opposed to single players
Yes, but at the same time, multiple players can get a lot more work done than a solo player. Whether it’s gathering, fighting, building or whatever, having more players is infinitely more useful than having more thralls.
Also, a 10-person clan needs as many crafter thralls as a solo player, so there’s efficiency in bigger clans.
that is not my observed reality, as in our clan and also with most other multi person clans on our server, each member has its own base
Then why do they keep adding resource-intensive pathing/AI calculations like Al’Merayah, spammable auto-harvesting golems (cause you know, getting 200 wood while you’re offline is more important than server performance for everyone else on your server), spammable purges with hundreds of NPCs, spammable taverns, and now #%@$ing living settlements?
It’s like they’re on a mission to degrade performance. Some of the ultra-casuals playing on single player mode may not notice, but these are often the same people that don’t even notice the performance hit of tens of thousands of placeables until literally the point their save becomes unloadable.
There are so many ideas - many from the community - for content updates that will not further drastically degrade the performance of an already poorly optimized game running on marginal hardware.
The multiplayer experience after Age of Heroes on an official server with 20+ players on is absolutely miserable.
1: Because the game is being developed for players, not servers.
2: Golems do not function when the builder is offline/out of render range.
3: No one is spamming “purges”. Hell if you have more then a couple running the public server goes down.
4: Raiders are by the dozen not hundred.
They are on a mission to sell you content.
How do you get 20 on a public server?
You do get the public servers are just a courtesy, right?
Conan is meant for private servers that is why there are so many admin settings.
In console we have some servers with 20 + people
If they hadn’t given the servers for free this game would have died years ago because all the other famous games give the servers for free rust dayz ark 7 days etc
Have you played on any of them?
The RUST public servers are the most toxic side of PVP. Got a rock, that guy doesn’t go kill him.
the ARK public servers are why I gave up on ARK the first time. Every time I logged in I was naked on the beach with nothing. It wasn’t till I was on a private and realized the game just was not for me.
Do I have DayZ seems like I would.
And I wouldn’t be playing 7D2D if it wasn’t on a private server. But then I probably wouldn’t be playing Conan now if 7D2D was 3rd person.
Played in all they and still play all days in ark where i have most fun because i like to play with friends and other players and right now is the only game reward players for grouping up.
I still log in rust and dayz in weekends for pvp but both when dont have players to kill or raid get bored to me most because they are more focused in pvp and theres no much to do in pve.
7D2D I stopped play because my friends in console dont wont buy again the new version because they have the old version and it never got upgraded and now they launched it new version and they want players buy it again and my friends think it is unfair because in console it almost never got one update the old console version far from the pc version before it new 7d2d got launched.
There are ~20 players on the official server I play on weeknights - even more on weekends.
Right, and when you get within render distance of a player who has a dozen golems farming that oh-so-important 200 wood and stone for them, they all mobilize and start harvesting. There is a noticeable performance impact.
Again, play on a server where it’s not just you playing and you’ll notice it.
Who TF are you to tell me what people are or are not doing on a server that you don’t even play on?
The server does go down frequently because of idiots spamming purges during peak hours. That is exactly my point. The servers simply can’t handle it, and it’s being made worse by Funcom constantly tacking on more AI/pathing content.
No wonder you post such drivel all the time
How 'bout you go play on your private server and stop s****ing on every single thread about official servers then?
Scroll up and see the server ping with 10 on, more players can’t even get on.
On your graphics card. None the less with all the exploring I do I have never found 3 golems in the same area let alone dozens. Please provide proof any player has dozens of golem s working an area.
Now full animal pens that lag a server more then any golem I have seen by the dozen around a base.
Again check your self before inserting foot in mouth.
Because they don’t on the 6 public servers I have characters on I’m on.
And I pointed out someone doesn’t have to spam purges to crash the server. Did you miss that part?
You really either miss a lot or just ignore it because it doesn’t suit.
Trying my best not to question you reading abilities further.
I do not play on private servers, I have said repeatedly on the forum in dozens of threads, I ONLY play on the publics. Me pointing out the game was built for private servers DOES NOT MEAN I EVER PLAY PRIVATE SERVERS.
It means the developers are building it/have built it to be played on private servers. The public servers are just a courtesy.
Now pull both your feet our your mouth and try again.
OK
Don’t forget that there’s consoles too, not everyone reads the forums as much as you might and staff have clarified that it’s not that Official servers are a courtesy in an afterthought but that they have not developed the game with only them in mind.
As for a follower limit increase, going based on the past and since the decrease, it didn’t change much in terms of performance. A slight increase would probably be fine.
The performance issues are a huge mix though.
I’m pessimistic the server lag issues are really that dependent on thrall count. Maybe bump it by a single representative of each profession. You don’t need more then one blacksmith.
I mean I think each profession should be consolidated to one that can perform all specialties. It’s not out of the realm of possibility?
In the interim, there’s still playstyles that use the different specialties; aside from the completionist trophy bunch. So they will have more than one blacksmith.
Anyway, there’s definitely something funky going on with the thrall settlement ai, we saw it in Beta. I think it started with Taverns.
They can add specialties in the place of perks level 10 level 15 and level 20 it might will help.
That’s an insult to moldy potatoes everywhere!!! Take that back!
Now you are just being silly. Thralls have none of this intellect you are talking about. You beat it out of them with that heavy metal truncheon you used to smack them into unconsciousness causing a massive concussion. Trust me, the brain damage you caused while capturing them has left them with none of that remaining.
They can also turn off the living settlement system can’t they?
Are you Angry because @Kapoteeni referred to your kin as Moldy?
You know, I played this one game for a good 5 years. We had a vibrant active community full of clans that even scheduled clan battled and everything. Thing is, the company that made the game shut down ALL OF THEIR SERVERS 1 month after the game was released. Yup, played it for 5 years straight without a single public server from the company. So…by your logic that shouldn’t have existed. But guess what. It did. In fact the numbers grew over time (by year 3 there were more player than in year 1), but then eventually it started to dwindle down as much newer games were available. So yeah, public servers are NOT MANDATORY, they are a courtesy.
