One piece of food is enough. It is evident thralls are grabbing food from whatever source available.
They are supposed to grab from the thrall pot though, right?
So a bartender getting a piece of food from the thrall pot is normal, correct???
I am becoming confused.
Thralls grabbing from NPCās or NPC camps or other players thrall pots, would be wrong. Thralls grabbing from a player loot bag would be wrong. But thralls grabbing from their owned thrall pot, would be right⦠in my opinion. I donāt know, I am confused now.
Artisans, performers, bartenders, taskmasters, they do not eat at all. Warriors would eat from the pot but not in a āphysicalā way, the food does not go to the figtherās inventory, it is simply deducted from the pot.
I thought the thrall pot was shutdown except for the basic functionality. That would have been healing⦠but Funcom left the issue alone. Here we are, again. Salvage?
So, why is there a pot and a trough? They do go down beyond organically degrading when there are warriors and pets around. Now I am confused.
OK. That would make sense then.
I have been running around and looting everything except Shredded Roast. Nothing has shown up in that thralls inventory.
I did change what food I was feeding them to Pork Rinds. Working on some grit hopefully.
I was running gruel in them for strength growth.
I went to a Darfari camp, they usually have Shredded Roast and killed all of them, looted the Shredded Roast. Waited about 10 minutes, nothing went to thrall inventory. Threw it all on the ground, waited for the loot bag to disappear, nothing went into thrall inventory. I am stumped brother.
I have fighters in my base with nothing in their inventory. I have a Bartender with a cooked steak. I have a Greater wolf with nothing in itās inventory currently, and no pet feeding trough down. I have been putting food on it as I check it.
I doubt we will find a common denominator to point a finger at.
I think @Kikigirl 's theory is the best we have and itās not consistent enough to narrow down really.
I gather, in the end, we need to check our fighterās inventory often; this little charade made a 90% Strength growth chance Dalinisia end up with frigging 39 in strenght; the entire block heard me swear, I found one steak amongst the gruel more than once. 39 strenght, jesus.
Ah dude, that sucks. Ya itās a nasty thing when trying to level a thrall.
lol on the block hearing you swear. Thought I heard something a few minutes ago also. lol
Ya I check before every combat and after (not always feasible to do). I pay very close attention when a thrall is close to level also.
Again not always something you can control.
Sorry brother, I know how disappointing that is.
BOOM, got it on video.

@DanQuixote
Guys, please check the original post, itās been edited with video evidence.
well I took thralls on a trip again today and this time built a thrall pot (and put Gruel in it)
The first thing I noticed was that as long as the base was within rendering distance the gruel didnāt disappear (but the thrall healed)
after the fight with the rotbranch the āsteakā thrall had 50% hp ( heās low level) so i checked the gruel count of the first one and took the steaks from the second one to āforceā an action.
he magically took a gruel across the map because it appeared in his inventory while the second thrall still had the same gruel count
Iām not saying Iāve fully reproduced the bug but thereās a good chance , as I mentioned it happened to me before and I used thrall pot for a while too - not sure if it happened at the time but itās possible
edit - and I see that you have solved it so far , well at least I confirmed for myself that I better not use thrall pot (outside of purges) when it seems to work without distance limitation and makes a mess when leveling thralls
Kiki, I remember having this problem before LS, I just never reported it. Check out the post again, if you will, I caught it on video.

Guys, please check the original post, it now has video evidence.
Good job. It does happen, I have seen it. Different food but same thing.
It does make it hard to level a thrall properly due to them getting the wrong food for the intended perks.
You did a good job @Boulderkin.
So have we determined that it is the thrall pot then? Or are thralls the issue?
What is the work around? Pick up thrall pots unless you are calling a purge?
Is Thrall hunger off by default now? They only need food to heal during combat?
Can you explain to me, in simple terms lol, how I should work around this?
Thank you for continuing to share your findings.
As I explained, Inn-keepers do not need to have food. This behavior belies a general behavior in all thralls. In this case I was trying to show the bug with its hands in the cookie-jar. What I have yet to determine is how in heavens does this happen to a Greater Lion at the Summoning Place, if the trough is way the hell back at Murielaās Hope. I am certain because I checked as I left, that the animal was half-full of Abyssal meat. Or a steak that keeps appearing in a Dalinisia out in the Mounds of the Dead. I would start by, unfortunately, keeping constant tabs on the inventory of leveling thralls/pets, particularly the lower levels. The pot and trough, as @DeaconElie stated, should be set as minimum, if you have admin permissions, because if the reach of pots is as enourmous as has been suggested, then he must be right, the food IS comming from troughs with virtually impossible range.
Makes sense. Would it be feasible to think then that fighter and archer thralls standing at the base, not traveling with you, would NOT need the thrall pot?
If that is the case then I will pick up the thrall pot and only place it when calling a purge or would that cause a problem with fighter and archer thralls just standing around.
The way my base is designed, nothing can get to the thralls unless I move them outside the walls.
I am playing PvE, so no player threat.
Any recommendations?
Thank you again.
I apologize if I seem a bit dense - itās early here, Iām still forcing coffee down to wake up my 70 year old brain.
Dense? lmao⦠I am dense, trust me. As laborious and wasteful as it sounds, kill the pots and troughs, hand-feed the fighters with low end food when they are at base, and see. Remember, Task-masters, Inn-Keepers, artisans, performers, those do not eat, only the fighters should have some cheap, albeit appropiate. food in their inventory.
Ok Iāll give that a try. I just picked up two more fighters and Iāll see how leveling goes without this thrall pot business out of the way.
Thanks again
Thatās right, unless followers are engaged in combat and are hurt they donāt need to eat. When I cared about my thrallās stats I never had a means of autofeeding like pots because of them drawing from it. So getting rid of it/them is a viable solution. Also, maybe test filling up their inventories would prevent auto feeding?
Thanks @Kikigirl , I have been filling their inventories to keep that piece of Shredded roast out. lol I am going to try this no thrall pot at all thing and see how that works.
it seemed like I was getting a lot of rotten meat from the thrall pot and that made me wonder if they were actually eating from it or not anyway. So this may save me some cooking also. One less thing.
I appreciate your help all.
The fact is that I basically donāt need a thrall pot on the PVE server - except for purges. I have my base closed (for the last year or so , it used to be completely open) and blocked thralls use , which works sort of halfway - my thralls wonāt open the gate but NPCs going to the pub will.
