Friend got VAC Immediately after Update

Game mode: Online Private
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvE
Region: NA

Our guild recently all bought the game to play after the F2P weekend and one of the friends just received a random VAC ban from Conan Exiles immediately following the update.

I was not home to update the server, he tried to connect with the updated client and it issued him a VAC ban.

Any ideas? We’re a small group of ~10 people to casually play a bunch of different games. We’ve never had an issue with VAC before.

VAC isn’t even turned on in our dedicated server.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Connect to our dedicated server with an old client
  2. Receive VAC Ban.
  3. Profit?

Alrighty so this has happened to a few more of my friends and now they can’t connect to our server at.

We have VAC disabled and it keeps telling them they can’t connect to my server because it is enabled. I have doubled checked the ServerSettings.ini several times, it is set to False.

Can anyone help? We all bought this game after the F2P and everyone is pretty upset.

I have more information, right before the ban it throws up this error for everyone:
Fatal error: [File:C:\UE4\CSAND\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\RenderingThread.cpp] [Line: 959] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 60.000 secs

!0x000000000000000

Only two of us can play. Everyone else has been VAC banned and even though our server does not have VAC, it keeps telling them it does when they try to connect.

It’s throwing this error up on the dedicated server console logs:
[2019.03.14-00.14.16:033][948]LogOnline:Display: STEAM: Ticket not valid - 76561198013979744

Sorry to make so many posts, it won’t let me edit anything. Keeps reading “Body too similar.”

Interesting, my error for months has been the same, except it’s line 959, not 956… everything else is the same, verbatim.

Sorry it is line 959, I typed it out because he sent it over text.

So, yeah, the same error.

Hey there @Agonistes

We’re aware of the crash with that error. The VAC ban, though, it is unheard of.
Just to check a few things first just in case: could you try to do a full clean reinstall of the game, and unsubscribe from any mods if you have installed any?

Your friends got a Vac ban or a development ban?

I’m the friend in question.

I have gained a full-on VAC ban on my account, not a development ban.
I have done a clean reinstall, re-verified, uninstalled Battleye/reinstalled Battleye.
No mods on my game because I’ve quite literally only played one server, and that is the one Agonistes hosts himself.

I’m mostly just saddened that after years of having my Steam account, I grab this game and have issues with glitches and crashes since my first install and am met with a VAC within 20 hours of gameplay.

Hey there,

Could you send us via private message the Steam profiles that got affected by this VAC ban?

We did all of those things, we did find out that if he spammed to get into the game (like kept trying over and over) eventually it lets him in.

If it throws up this error: [948]LogOnline:Display: STEAM: Ticket not valid - 76561198013979744

He does not get in.

If it says he successfully has connected, then he’s in.

If he disconnects for some reason we have to do this process all over again, sometimes we have to restart the server.

I remember the private server I rent has a setting ‘Everyone can cheat’, and since VAC is about anti-cheat: Have you tried to allow cheating via this setting?

Hmm, I don’t know where that option might be.

I run our dedicated server from home, so I don’t rent. I use the Dedicated Server Tool.

VAC and Battleye are both set to False. I googled around a bit for your setting, and it looks like it just turns Battleye On/Off.

That may very well be the case…

Sorry that I cannot be of any more help :disappointed:

Hey there,

We contacted privately the users affected and we resolved this inquiry there.
Please remember that there are also options to disable VAC and BattlEye on private servers, and that there could be problems trying to join a server hosted in your own machine. To override that, the server need to be launched with -nosteam in the command line, or follow the steps we posted in this thread:

We’re proceeding to close this thread, thanks.
