Conan currency

If I wanted to trade with another player in another clan what do you think is acceptable as Conan cash?
Do you think all this is worth the same in resource used to collect the item, effort used and the overall rareness of the item?
This is a list I came up with, what do you think?

Ok let’s say you built this cool market place and you welcome players to trade, deffs hackle better items if got them, like rare ingredients and special cool workers, very special tools ect. But what would you use as a more universal currency that low level and high players can get and everyone finds useful, hardened bricks?, Steelfire?, gold? SM Bars?. Let’s say you opened a bar and stacked up some epic boss meals that’s hard to make and dose somthing special, it dosent have to be too expensive in some cases, depending on what your selling. Do you reckon leave it purely up for hacking when the player rocks up in you market place? or put signs up with some prices aswell as a sign that says bartering is welcome.

So you reckon it should be this?..

hahaha! its actually funny how bad I am at this, but was fun idea anyway, thank you for all your interesting reply’s, I loved it. I guess it all depends on the player and where they live. what you can be bothered to trade. my tribe is quite peaceful if we can help it especially one of my members the other enjoys pvp time 2 time, was thinking about another kind of player to player interaction besides fighting, but it still fun to pvp also.

I don’t know that you could come up with a universal currency, it depends on what the other player/clan needs at the time. Anything has value if someone needs it.

Personally, I don’t see any parity in those figures. Star metal is somewhat exotic to many people, so to them 10 bars is like a $1,000 bill.

Gold and silver should be removed as they can be directly manufactured. Gold and silver are good for gambling, though. If you were trying to achieve a balance between worth and rarity, I’d guesstimate there are 10 silver coins for every gold coin. That would make silver coins “dimes,” more or less.

Steelfire is the actual interesting one. [80s sales pitch voice] Everybody needs it, everybody uses it, it’s in all of our wish lists, i.e. it’s going places. [/8spv] This meets the rough definition of currency. Furthermore, it can be kept in its component parts (tar and sulfur) for fractional transactions.

In reality, most deals on any server I’ve inhabited are paid in steel reinforcements. My guess is as more people capture Purge Smiths this will begin to change…

I tried, this is the exile economy I came up with, I’m cool with people adding more stuff to this list if it worth the same as above, it’s objectionable. I think this is fare so far.

Ok what if I was the kinda chick that likes lots of luxtry clothes and cosmetics so I like gold and sliver coins to make armors and potions, how much gold can I get with 10 star metal bars?

Then you are likely the sort of player who would set about spending some of those coins on Rocknose eggs in order to manufacture gold and silver yourself! My motivation was the spangly bikinis. I’ll be totally honest. Also, it’s a great use for your taming pen during non-taming times.

If you were to try and achieve a trade with me or my server mates, your 10 star metal bars would cost about 200 gold bars. Today’s prices, offer void in Hawaii or the US Virgin Islands. :smiley:

ETA:

I couldn’t trade rebar for them, because there’s no such thing as 1/100 of a steel reinforcement. :stuck_out_tongue: (exaggerating)

I don’t know if 1000 Gold coins is the same effort as 10 star metal bars, you get around 100 per fire ore, and when I look for gold I only get 25 Gold bars per location.

Being at end game in PvE, all those items seem rather “meh” to me. Generally when someone wants to trade for something I have (i.e. star metal, purge thralls, legendary repair kits, gold) I ask for raw materials plain and simple.

The reason for this is that recent changes to the pick/hatchet animation has made farming even more eye-strain-inducing than before. As such, if I can avoid that drudgery and get on with other parts of the game, then I can literally spare myself a headache. So yeah, wood and stone are where it’s at IMO.

Guys, I think you underestimate gold and silver as a trading currency, all epic armor, high end tools, weapons and a bunch of other stuff require Alchemical Base which is made from gold and silver dust + Ichor, don’t know about you, but I run through gold and silver in huge amounts, despite having 20 gold/silver rocknoses I sometimes need to go harvest silver and gold while a few meteor runs will give me enough starmetal for months :grin:

Wow, I didn’t know you could make gold from rock noses! :open_mouth: for reals!?! And I’ve been trying to mine it this whole time XD, thanks so much for your advice, I’m gonna update the list.

My suggestion is taking one of your play sessions and focusing on killing Bearers every 16 minutes. If you work this into your routine, you’ll have all the alchemical base you’ll ever need. Additionally, the wood, stone and ironstone from the bearer packs are enough to keep my furnaces/carps going during these sessions. In seven months on this server I’ve never stolen any, nor have I had to make any alchemical base.

Ive been currently thinking a lot about this as I’m resource flush and my friend isnt. I think rather than set prices in a general sense, you have to haggle. Its less about one price for all and more “whats it worth to you”.

Personally, hardened brick is the one thing that I cant get enough of, so if someone wanted something from me, hardened brick is going to make the sale. For someone who likes a tight base though, they will quickly have enough and maybe care more about broken thralls. Id pay quite a bit for a named smelter even though i have 5 already, driven by my need for hard brick.

Think primeval, which would be bartering and haggling.

@Barnes, you are right about the bearers dropping a pack, but I so rarely get alchemical base from them, but on the other hand I have absolutely no need to get more branches, bones and feathers… I mostly dump them right away when I see them :rofl:
Also depends on what armors you use for your thralls, I mainly use epic armor and I am too attached to my steel to make armor repair kits so instead I repair most of my epic armors with hardened leather :slight_smile:
