Funcom make up ur mind, stop giving us new structures if you will wipe us

Don’t forget not to use the memory intensive items. Specially the new one from bazar.

I think it was placed to avoid people doing heat/*cold traps and lag pools with torches, not long ago people used to put hundreds of torchs *around someone base to cause lag. It differs of decorating your dinner table with bazaar stuff

Think is should denny the abuse not the use

Ah I meant buildings. Placeables is a totally different issue as we all have different opinions on lighting, furnishings etc. That is the one section that is hard to create a rule over because of that.
Concrete black and white rules will not change anything. Those that look to maximize their play over others will still do so and they will only be empowered by these regulations to come as close to the line as possible without going over…these are not folks I want to play with as they just aren’t fun. it’s just PvE minmaxing and if I didn’t like it in PvP, I certainly won’t like it in PvE.

Yep. It was a pvp strategy to do this and summoning a god to attack said laggy base crashed the server. PvE has the same issue. If there are multiple super large and complicated bases all in active server memory due to players in the rendering zones for this fortresses, then the server drops significantly.

Yea, however that’s just client-side FPS problems from actually rendering those  Obviously it still has to display all of those things, it’s not really an issue on better hardware though from just the building pieces.
What I meant is that buildings are actually very well optimized and have a very minimal performance hit to the server itself, unlike placeables :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t argue with that one :man_shrugging:

Funny thing, a lot of the Funcom staff actually plays this game :joy: (my personal guess thou is that they play on private servers lol)

I’m not sure about this one actually. I just know that they made statements like this on various platforms in the past and it’s been a consistent attitude ever since early access, I don’t have the links and some threads have been deleted since, like I’ve seen one the other day explaining why they don’t do a building limit. The original thread is gone, but you can see cached copies of the quote blocks themselves in other threads :man_shrugging:

This aspect was fairly consistent though through all these years, even at early access launch there were like 7000+ private servers from day one pretty much and they couldn’t even launch their planned 200 officials as their initial hosting provider ran out of slots… so the game was well on its way before that was a thing, that already shows that their official servers are more of a hindsight if anything…
Even today I believe the majority of the player base actually plays on private servers… though don’t quote me on that last one as I don’t have actual numbers, consoles do tip that balance quite a bit.

Maybe @Taemien can help with links to staff comments related to this question or even some numbers, idk.

As for this though, can you define the purpose it had? Because to me this sounds like the exact thing that is against the rules.
He already had a base next to you… and he went down to the shore and built a boat… by the sounds of it… for no other purpose than decoration… and while that might be a very important subjective and personal purpose, it is not considered one when it comes to the rules.

Just as a disclaimer though, I want you to understand that I am not in any way against official servers, I am also of the opinion that they should get more attention and most of all to be ran on better hardware finally so people who choose to play on that can experience proper fluid gameplay, without all the rubberbanding and teleporting and your thralls fighting bushes because they didn’t get the memo yet that the enemy has moved… :man_shrugging:

and like I said in my initial post, I am in full support of people whose bases are getting wiped at least getting a proper explanation for it, one that they can understand and accept in most cases.

The reason I’m commenting on this was not to argue with you or anything like that. I am just pointing out that this concept of Funcom trying to encourage minimal builds to include as much people as possible on their public servers IS a reality… so the people who CHOOSE to play there need to be aware of this if they don’t want to wake up to a surprise wipe…

I think they dont put limit because it will cause players to leave, instead they prefer to let it go and kick us when the cust/profit dont worth, like ford with ford pinto in 78´s, in a minor scale, its cheaper deal with frustrated people that has no ballast weigth than fixing / improving things. Most of people claims that is for public wellness but is busssiness strategy and a trickery one

Playing on official servers you have not your own house!
The minute that people will realize this is the minute that the most problems will be solved!
Official servers are free public servers for everyone, but they have only one owner and this owner owns everything in it!
Funcom!

well… as stated before, i play on a ps5… lmk if there´s anything above that

and if buildings are so optimized as you say, you clearly forgot about full bases dissapearing when 3.0 hit the market… and such issues are not 100% solved yet… hecks now even foliage is missing intermitently… invisible rhinos… but thats a whole different monster…i dont want to go over the technical issues again…

if that was an official statement, that should have become a part of the MUST READ material in this forum i think.

no… he moved his entire base… he wanted to live in the water and dressed his thralls as pirates.

are we not able or even entitled to have more than one base?.. that wasnt the case as i explained before that he moved his base but, cant we have more than one base and try to make them look good?.. or is the purpose of the whole set of building pieces and placeables to be used in a single base?..

what do you do when u create a farming station?.. or a taming station?.. you build a 5x5? (the size of a medium size taming wheel … or an 8x8?.. what if you want an altar?

thats my purpose also… im not ranting against official servers, or against funcom itself… im trying to express what i think should, can and must be addressed… this is not a free game my bro… you paid for this game… and even when you dont pay for server rent, the application of a transparent policy, and subject to valuation should be enforced…

like, you build a couple of bases around the map… or maybe more than a couple because there are many sites of interest to you, like the berserker area, conan it self, the sinkhole, etc, etc, etc… if one of your bases breaks the rules, wouldnt it be adviseable to have a warning… instead of a FULL WIPE OF YOUR STRUCTURES?.. i mean… the admins imho are out of control with that command… full wipes and bans are being applied without a proper reason being granted to the players.

ill share with you the explanation funcom is giving… i got this from another clan who got suspended for 15 days, when the decay time is 7 days

The thralls decay is 14 days!

those who expect nothing loose nothing right?..

well… I´d say funcom is not entitled to that luxury is it? the more we express our discontent, the more clients they might loose…

and im not talking about new players… those are not customers… those are visitors… or you think a player who doesnt understand the game is gonna buy the battle pass and every single object from the bazaar out of the blue?..

this is NOT an easy game for new players, there are no pointers, just your common sense… think of the professions for example… can you really say you know it all at this point?.. i keep learning after years of playing.

Think of the taming process when it comes to berserkers… you used to be able to get a freaking fight out of it, trying to kill you… now it can kill you as ussual, but give it 2 or 3 blows and the frigging thing is dead, so you have to refine your understanding to adapt your taming methods… not an easy game my friend

bottom line… WE… THE REAL PAYING CUSTOMERS are not happy with the banning pandemia

if funcom´s business model includes us, they should start listening to us…

Because ttbt and you wont have an argument for my next statement, there isnt a single item that is pvp oriented in the bazaar… or even the battle pass… EVERYTHING is simlpy put C.O.S.M.E.T.I.C

I Dont know you, but by reading you, i get you are into pvp pretty much right?.. feel free to express what would you feel if your pvp toon got wiped in any of the games you play… without a reason…

2 weeks suspension … you would have to be counting seconds in order to enter right on time to avoid loosing your thralls in the proximity of your last location.

Welp, here we are. Another thread perpetrating the “we are getting banned for building big” trope. Thanks, Funcom.

If you asked me for my wishlist of new Conan Exiles features, the following would be somewhere close to the top of the list: I wish Funcom would give detailed and relevant information about how the rules were broken to everyone who got admin-wiped, suspended, or banned.

Hopefully, that would bring an end to stuff like this:

No.

First of all, the follower limit didn’t solve the problem it was supposedly meant to solve. Maybe it improved performance somewhat, but whatever improvement it brought was not perceived on most official servers, probably because the hoarding of thralls went hand-in-hand with huge theme park builds.

Second, the problem is not how many building pieces you used. It’s how you used those building pieces and whatever placeables you attached to them.

Yes, I absolutely 100% agree that it sucks to be admin-wiped, suspended, or banned without an explanation. They need to fix that.

But this whole thing about how it’s their own fault for giving us big placeables? That’s a theory that just refuses to die because: 1) it’s simple and easy to believe, and 2) Funcom doesn’t explain why the hell their admins do what they do, so people fall back on the simple-and-easy theory.

Yes! A warning system would be even better, but I’m not holding my breath. The cheapest way to improve things would be to explain to affected players why the admin action was taken. It boggles my mind that they don’t want to do even that. I mean, come on, everything they need is already in place, just set a policy for the admins!

It’s the truth, though. Official servers suck.

Yeah, their service architecture seems to suck too.

15 days is 2 weeks and one day, so this suspension is exactly for not having the issue to worry about saving your thralls, they will be sure decayed one day before!

Fellow exile i will repeat!
Your first intention is right, please try to stick in this objective…

This objective truly needs conversation because it’s reasonable!

But this objective…

Toss it to the garbage! You really don’t know what’s you’re asking for, this is the easiest thing for Funcom to do and if it happens it will doom us all! It’s insanely wrong! This is something that Funcom should ask from us and not we from Funcom!

We are all here real paying costumers, think nothing different! All my replies are friendly and polite and i would ask you to do the same please!
Yes i played over 3k hours pvp, but my most hours is pve! I never played pvp after 2.4 again!

I am Stelios Litsios, age 47, married and 2 children, please to meet you .

Please never forget or think nothing different, all the replies you’ll see are friendly and the fellow exiles who try to explain to you are no enemies but fellow gamers that equally want the best for this game!

But when we speak for official servers, any conversation will have point if the ones that participate in a conversation understand this…

to tell you the truth, i dont even feel pleasure playing this game right now… it makes me sick to realize how little they care

hmm… did i offend you in any way?

hahahahaha Zeus, 42, many sons and daughters

Here we go again… we just need strict and clear TOS for officials, maybe more limits, more blocked (red) areas. But you can build really anything you want within green areas.
We got plenty alpha clan bases on officials (laggy asf). AWith thousands of foundations and etc. And still, small bases are wiped because of false reports or minor abuses like blocking useless caves with zero stuff inside.
My last canyon base was wiped i believe not because I claimed it (literally useless passway under mountains nobody use it), but because of road.
I made a road leading to the gates of the canyon, to the gates of the actual base (cave). Not only for decorative purposes, but literally to stop spawn of big chunks of stone and rocknoses. You know when its the only way to your base and each time it blocked…
And, somehow, it is land claim abuse, even if road inside my own territory and not interfering with anything else in the world (only 10-15 rock nodes and 5-6 rocknoses).

I just rented my own server recently for this reason. I’ve been unlocking things in the BP and buying items from the Bazaar, and on Officials I just cannot feasibly use them all without being inconsiderate to the server. So I left Officials for the 1st time in 4 years in order to get the most out of my money. On my own server, if I want to have a Turan build, a Stygian build, Frontier build, argos build etc… I can. And I’m not breaking any rules or taking up map space by doing this. My creativity will be endless!

I am not going to bother to read completely through this post. Need to go to bed. Funcom should give us quantity of building pieces and placables allowed. If they can’t tell us how are we to know?I am sure others feel this way.

As well as

  • locations we’re not allowed to build in (ie. specific distance from points of interest so as not to block them, as well as a list of resource/boss spawns we’re not allowed to block)
  • clearly defined “illegal shapes”, e.g. foundation spiderwebs or pillars to block trebuchet placement or otherwise claim land, as well as bridges or pathways between separate buildings (if those are allowed)
  • number of separate bases we’re allowed to have around the map, e.g. whether we can build separate teleporter platforms away from our main base, or a satellite thrall collection base near an NPC capital, etc.

As you can see, making an adequate set of rules to prevent “abuse” will quickly get complicated. A set number of building pieces alone won’t solve the problem.

Sounds like you build some creative builds. You should certainly have a look at the more Roleplay, private servers then, as they would likely welcome your build.

On Official servers Funcom will always have to consider all players on the servers and how builds can stop all the other players enjoying the game. When building, even up on that bridge, there’s still that build radius in place blocking any builds, etc. And even though, up on high, it still blocks underneath.

If you want to keep on Official, check that “Land Claim Abuse on Offical Servers” link above and use it to guild your build. Those rules were created way back and address a lot of abusive builds - and not saying yours was. Unfortunately, creative players such as yourself will be also affected by Offical guidelins and rules.

Personally, I would move myself to a friendly build-orientated Private server, or even rent one yourself and set your own rules.
