Funcom Modding Code of Conduct

In the UK that would actually break at least 2 UK laws
Copywrite law and Computer Misuse Act 1990.

That’s interesting. You made me look it up and learn something new, so thank you for that. I don’t know if you’re actually a lawyer, but even if you aren’t and are just offering your own interpretation, that interpretation seems quite plausible when it comes to the UK Copyright law. I’m not so sure about the Computer Misuse Act 1990, so if you really are a lawyer, I would enjoy a brief explanation of why it applies here, because I like learning new things

That’s it. If I ever decide to make a mod for Conan Exiles, my first mod will be to add inflatable cucumber as a weapon :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m not a lawyer but I do have a little experience with these 2 laws, back when I modified Sony Ericsson mobile phones (before android and iphone existed) , ericsson came for a bunch of us and they got all the UK developers using these 2 laws.

The reason they got me was for patching the K series walkman, even though the K series firmware had all the GFX of the W series packed inside it I was deemed to have breached copywrite law as I was displaying images in a manner not intended without permission (UK law is pretty strict in regards to software).

Computer Misuse Act 1990 covers things like reverse engineering and hacking, it is mainly used if you have intent to commit a crime, but it also covers ā€œaccessingā€ any type of material/content, although I do believe it depends on what you do with the material/content and how the judge is feeling that day lol.
