Future Stream Content - What do you want to see more of?

Hello,
In your Newsletter you asked what you could do to improve your streaming content.

About Conan Exile, you should focus on pratical things rather than trying to have a seductive speech (which is accompanied by the useless presence of your social media specialist who only serves to hide your technical gaps by masking them under a nice speech). Its only presence is in line with the false excuses to which you have accustomed us like: “We have in the past been too quick to fix bugs, now we will patch only once every 1.5 months it is more reasonable!” You can feel the fake in advance and… All this looks so artificial that is running out of breath and, above all, is so visible.

I think you would have more positive feedbacks, if you communicate on your pratical progress in fixing all the bugs known since the early access version (recipes impossible to carft because the item is not implemented, disappearances and objects depop , problems of bearing capacity of buildings, bad settings of the ruins system etc…) and which are still present because the released version of the game is always the same as in the early access phase one…
Focus on the lore and narrative content that is sorely lacking! With a universe as rich as this one, it is a pity to be faced with something so empty in terms of story ! Finish correctly the areas already in the game rather than adding new half-finished areas (for example the volcano whose hit boxes were surreal when it opened…). Think and design your dungeons properly rather than turning them into vulgar mob bashing mazes without interest, without story, without reality… Communicate on your pratical corrections because for the moment, these streams are nothing more than smoke and mirrors, empty advertising, like a pasteboard set from old cowboy movies.
Yet this game has such fabulous potential and you have so good ideas. Please finish what you started before you start doing big jobs!

It’s not just about attracting new players, but also about keeping the already acquired community that is running away (and that is ready to buy your dlcs if it doesn’t feel like a bunch of idiots…). The community who support you from the begining is fleeing not for lack of novelty but for lack of corrections and after seeing that you have launched a game that is not finished!

The “social media” speech does not forever compensate for the real shortcomings.

Sincerely, however.

What would I like to see?

  • ongoing updates on patches and fixes, at least to demonstrate that there is active work going into the game.
  • show the devs, not just community people, having fun playing their own game. e.g. doing a raid boss, building an awesome base, hold a dev pvp tournament
  • invite one of the more interesting youtubers and/or streamers to the stream for one of the tasks listed above
  • tips, tricks, secret locations etc.

Hello and thankyou for asking.
More Oscar, please! Oscar knows so well what he is talking about and can explain all the technical reasons why some request is or is not possible. He does not sugar-coat his replies or say “maybe” when he knows damn well the answer is no.
You guys have a great game and I’ll be playing it whether some creative idea may or may not be implemented, I’d rather know the truth than be given false hope.

I have a big suggestion, and I think one that most could agree with. We Want Joel Bylos! Please bring him back for a few streams in the future. He was a staple during the EA streams and always made me laugh out loud. He was always transparent and candid, telling his honest opinions and hopes for what was going to happen. It would be excellent to see him on air again!

I want to see some HONEST answers to questions the community has.

like what is the true answer to when, or if sorcery is comming?

here is Joel’s comment on Aug 24th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9wapG3-rmo
at 8:00 in stream

here is Jens on Aug 31st : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_bFZphGjb0

Can you understand why the community gets confused?

It’s coming up on two weeks – are we having a stream this Friday?

funcom has been very quiet… so i dont know whats going on!..

Hello FC.

+1 for the idea of joining random official servers and see the players buildings / interact with them. That would be great for the community.

I would like to see more whats down on the roadmap, even if is just a talk stream like the very first about the combat revamp with Oscar. Its good to know whats comming besides the nearest things that sits on testlive.

Any archery news? Sorcery? AI improvements?
Are drinking / eating animations comming?

Yes, there’s a stream this friday.

You’re able to ask questions for the QA too.

I would like to see more gameplay and interactions in the game with players. I would like to see that funcom staff have real buildings and play the game. show us your builds and what you have gathered and collected so we can see that you experience the game the way we do.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. I’m going to keep the thread open for a few more days.

Yes! Every other Friday is stream day, unless we say otherwise. We announce the stream in the weekly newsletter, when there’s a stream. We also opened a thread where we asked for questions from players to answer on the stream.

There’s a big difference between someone “having a beer” and someone “getting drunk”
Nothing wrong with a beer or two… :beers:

Agreed. Conan Exiles is a game with murder, slavery, naked bodies and alcohol/getting drunk is a gameplay feature (long may it continue!) - so if that’s not acceptable, better stop playing. Or watching. Ugh, neo-puritanism. Thought we were over that.

Really? It’s after hours, it’s their workroom, it’s their stream, it’s their game, it’s their company, it’s their country…it’s their choice and yours - you don’t have to watch. Allow them their freedom.

Cheers, Jens. Thanks for the updates.

whatever.

Let’s keep it civil, guys. You’re all entitled to your opinions, of course, but please keep the discussion polite.

Yeah sure, but let’s be honest, that’s not what’s happening either, is it? Having a beer over the course of a 1½ hour stream does not equal getting drunk - in an average person it would probably “burn off” in roughly that time (or less, depending on many factors that are irrelevant here).

You’re certainly allowed your opinion, everyone is always allowed one of those.
But it makes me sad when people have to stop doing something they enjoy in order to “not offend”, reducing everyone to whatever is the least permissible behavior that offends no-one (almost everything offends someone, somewhere). It leads to a very boring society, and while there’s certainly cases where drinking alcohol is inappropriate, a stream for a mature game like Conan is not one of them.

Having an opinion that protects people is good.
But having an opinion that puts someone’s social behavior on the spot because it makes you feel uncomfortable is not.

Being European, I’ve learned to tolerate everything that doesn’t hurt anyone, because I’ve come to understand people by being around people of every imaginable nationality, culture, age and religion.

Like Mikey said, everything someone does, will offend someone somewhere.

When living in a melting pot, the only way you can live and let live is to have a superposition of opinions that adapt to the people you interact with.

When the wind of change comes, some people build walls, other’s build windmills.

Stepping out of one’s comfort zone is an opportunity to re-assess ones self, more than it is, of your surroundings.

Conquer yourself, and you conquer all.
Instead of standing firmly against the stream proclaiming your beliefs, become the stream, and you will realize you can get everywhere and back, without ever having changed your opinions.

In other words… Freedom is what you do with what’s been done to you.
Let people do whatever it is they want to do; Life will punish them if they walk astray.

Your opinion won’t change the endless instances of drinking at a work place before, now and in the future… It’s only affecting Jens Erik, who never issued an opinion of you.

Now, i’m not saying you should suppress your opinions. I’m just saying; Don’t project your opinions on to others, lest you quickly find out what people’s opinions are of you and it’s NEVER going to be good. never.

The only time when an opinion is good is if your trying to protect something, and make it clear and make sense.

Oh YES!
Streamidea:
Create a seperate server and hold a tournament which gets streamed.
(Please with someone having gone nuts with admin mode building some neat arena?)

This would actually be precious for your team (or rather the guy in charge of balancing) because it would 1) deliver proof in what way there might be a superior weapon and just how much the difference is.
2) Given you provide decent hardware for said server, this might even help with performance tweaking? Like there are said to be good 100 slot servers out there (at least I’ve read about them? “somewhere”?), said server would be created (and deleted afterwards) for this kind of event.

I think that might be fun!

Oh and @Jens_Erik? Just dont let this become a really unhealthy habit. :joy:

I think there is a SIGNIFICANT difference from having a beer or two over the course of an hour long broadcast, and drinking to get drunk. I occasionally have a beer while I play games or watch an NFL game. I have no intention of getting drunk, i just enjoy the beer. Every stream I’ve watched seems to apply the same to them.

I think saying you did not want to watch people get drunk phrased wrong or had a gross over-application of personal bias.
