Gameplay.pak truncated to 171 KB after clean install — Feat tables missing (“Failed training feat ID 0”)

Basic Info:

Platform: Steam
Issue Type: Gameplay
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: =SERVER NAME=
Mods: =MODS=

Bug Description:

Summary.

After multiple completely clean installations of Conan Exiles across different PCs, Steam libraries, and download regions, the file gameplay.pak downloads as a 171 KB placeholder instead of the normal 10–12 GB package. As a result, core data (feats, religions, crafting recipes) missing. Console commands such as LearnFeat Religion_Yog return Failed training feat ID 0. Do you own relevant DLC and is ID right?

Steps Taken / Fixes Tried:

Verified game files repeatedly — always “all files validated,” gameplay.pak = 171 KB.

Deleted gameplay.pak + .sig, then re-verified — same result.

Uninstalled via Steam, manually deleted residual folders in …\Steamapps\common\Conan Exiles and %LocalAppData%\ConanSandbox.

Cleared Steam download cache between reinstalls.

Changed Steam download region (UK → Germany → USA). Created new Steam library on another drive. Installed on a completely different PC → identical 171 KB file.

Tested both vanilla and mod-free setups (empty modlist.txt).

Verified other PAKs: items.pak ≈ 5 GB systems.pak ≈ 84 MB gameplay.pak = 171 KB (always)

Console tests: MakeMeAdmin → works LearnFeat Religion_Yog → fails (ID 0) SpawnItem 81002 1 → no result

Confirmed same outcome on new world, clean configs, and different hardware.

Searched forums/reddit — many “corrupt PAK” posts, no reports of this specific truncated file.

Observed Behaviour: Game launches but feat tables are empty. Shrines show fewer recipes. Console feat commands fail (ID 0). gameplay.pak always 171 KB.

Expected Behaviour: gameplay.pak should be ≈ 10–12 GB and contain core gameplay/feat data.

Feats should load normally.

Environment: Steam (PC) – Live branch, Nov 2025. Windows 10 & Windows 11. No mods, multiple PCs, multiple regions. Suspected Cause: Broken or incomplete Steam depot serving a truncated gameplay.pak. Appears server-side, not user-side.

gameplay.pak is supposed to be 171 KB.

I am not sure what is causing your issue, but it does not appear to be that pak specifically.

Thank you, any suggestions on things I could try to fix?

You are not using the correct format for LearnFeat. It is returning ID 0 because you are not giving it a proper ID.

Acolyte of Yog should be LearnFeat 55002

It’s painful to watch this game collapse in on itself. I understand the company doesn’t want to waste time, but the constant attacks are making things worse. Attacks on BattleEye are constantly breaking things.

I have a problem too, my problem is: when I start it with Battle Eye, Battle Eye starts without you. Yes, if I start it with Battle Eye open in the launcher, the game tells me to turn on anti-cheat. This was not a joke because when Battle Eye is closed in the launcher, only Battle Eye opens. I checked the task manager. Exactly, while Battle Eye is active, the launcher starts it without Battle Eye.

The game literally lets me play without anti-cheating. For a while, I was afraid of getting banned. I’m not afraid anymore, I’ve gotten used to it

After playing without Battleeye for a long time. And on official PVE servers  I solved my problem. I run the BE version of Conan exe from the game files. And I can enter the game with Battleeye. I swear it’s harder to enter the game with anticheating
