Gliders! Grappling Hooks!

I have recently been playing the new game Enshrouded.
They have a glider system, and a grappling hook system!
Any plans on adding these to Conan Exiles?
I think it would be an amazing new way to traverse the map.

We can already fly in Conan Exiles.

Clearly, these are not the same things.
I’m sure you know this, and just want to start an argument.

No thanks.
Move along.

Of course they aren’t they’re better. Flying > Gliding.

Also Free Climbing > Grappling Hook

Enshrouded should consider using Conan Exiles’s climbing system to facilitate getting around.

Sorcery can be used to summon a huge bat, that is our glider system
And our characters can climb nearly anything. We are all wall crawlers here!

This one certainly wouldn’t be upset about a glider or crossbow with cord and wind pulley, or grappling hook.

They could be interesting alternatives to sorcery for siege and mobility.

But how would the grapple work when we can already climb most everything? Would climbing a grappling line reduce the stamina cost?

As for gliders, how would they interact with weather?
This one is now imagining taking a glider into the Maelstrom on Siptah and then lots of falling damage or such.

This one likes the ideas as something to look at in a future Age of Exploration.

Grappling hooks are a FANTASTIC IDEA!!

If you ever played Tomb Raider Legend or Underworld, Lara used them for platforming. You could swing and jump from cliffs and stuff. Granted, I doubt anything quite that fancy and advanced would be implemented into this game. If they added a spelunking element to game, perhaps, but I see that as requiring quite a bit of recoding to how exploration in the game works. Without HEAVY adjustments to all that, a grappling hook would just feel useless. Probably more-so than sorcery already does.

But their. That bat system is actually better, I don’t need to find high ground, and i don’t need to drop till I’m ready to land.

I’d agree about climbing if the mechanic worked right, but there is a pesky proliferation of push off ledges.

We already have improved climbing gear and nobody use it! Some don’t even bother for the recipe.
Bats? Maybe a little in pvp but that’s it.
Frozen bridges? I fixed one or two, found them completely unnecessary and never touched them again.
So i will agree with @Taemien, even if i always support ideas, i find no reason for this one other than “cool”.
So i like the idea, but i find it unnecessary! If we have them, i will use them like the frozen bridges, just a couple of times , say “cool” and toss it to the garbage.

yah i vote for ‘fix what we have’ over ‘add new broken stuff’
idea is cool though

To be fair, this is likely because those features were added long after Exiled Lands and Siptah were available, those maps were designed in a way that you didn’t need them so much. I’ve found much more use for them on Savage Wilds, though even that map kinda predates them.

Enshrouded, like Breath of the Wild, has a map totally designed around these methods of travel. Which is why the OP enjoys them. You pretty much need to use those methods to get around. Exiled Lands doesn’t even really utilize mounts as well as Siptah for much of the same reason.

Its actually interesting you brought this opinion up as its something custom map makers should probably consider when designing their maps. How much do they want sorcery to be utilized to get around, as well as mounts.

In the AoC mod, they implemented the idea of a flying aggressive ghoul. They attack you from above, you can only kill them with archery.

All that remains is to use them as mounts

I honestly use them somewhat regularly. I always keep them on hand and use them to climb higher areas when I don’t think I’ll have enough stamina.

But Enshrouded lacks autorun which is much more useful than gliders and grappling hooks.

I want my pet followers to imbue me with special powers. Each pet having a different power.
Oh and lets not for get parachutes and power suits. Gotta have that tech gear bench.

As usual, you post nothing constructive, and just type nonsense.

Do you realize you’re wasting your time? Again?

Aren’t you bored of doing this?

Doubt Funcom’s CE team has finances and time to create a full functional system for gliders and grappling hooks.
Their 2023-2024 win streak of updates show nothing but team’s lack of quality control and development time.
As a player, I’d rather see them fix current issues and problems than try to catch a hype train they’re destined to miss.
