And there “you” have it. What I said is: It does not matter to me, but I should not pretend what does not matter to me does not matter to anyone else.
What I am saying is that if it does not matter to me, it is not an argument to say it should not matter to anyone.
Exactly the opposite of what you are “implying” I said.
I think if someone raises the point, we cannot dismiss something because “it does not matter” or it “does matter” to me. Instead we have to understand why it would matter to those to whom it matters.
Again, it is a lack of understand the converse way of something. That is why studies, science and law, you need to have something to be “falsifiable”, which means you need to know how it is not, to be sure how it is.
And that is supposed to be what ? I can talk about anything I want, it mattering to me or not.
“Going play something else” or “Go talk about something else” is the same thing. If you think one is “not right”, the other isnt either.
I stopped switching it back because I do too many things that automatically switches it back to the ugly loincloth. Like testing in SP or switching accounts. I also normally play with PVP armour on at all times so it’s not like I can see much of my avatar anyway.
I don’t understand why it does it. The game can remember every single other setting. It even has the ability to remember my favourite servers while switching accounts. But doesn’t remember my nudity preferences.
Giving a recovering alcoholic a six pack a malt beverage is a great example of giving someone a choice actually strips them of their freedom.
In this particular situation with Conan Exiles, if by giving us players the toggle, are we missing out on getting another toggle that might be better for everyone? Are we giving a subsection of the community the momentum to ask for more? We already have comments claiming the devs are evil in one thread because the game focuses on doing bad things over what the commenter thinks is ‘good’. Its the old give an inch and they take a mile argument.
I don’t exactly trust the intentions of those asking for a toggle in a game like this. Those who tend to favor censorship start out with claims of choice and freedom but at the end of the day their intention is to restrict such. For some of them the toggle will be the first step. Then it will be other things.
I’m not accusing of those in this thread of doing this. Many of them are probably just looking for a setting so that they can play their game a bit more openly or what have you. But there’s a good percentage in there that will bite the hand that feeds them. And well, I don’t trust anyone.
Its also a bit too much of a coincidence that many people claiming that other parts of the game are too evil, too dark, too villainous, etc right after the dev posted in this thread. The very statement “The devs are evil” because of sorcery is a direct attempt to shame them into being more susceptible to censorship.
Of course it is. It’s same lie as modern democracy. The illusion says that you have a choice and you can decide. And you are actually restricted to voting for the same morons over and over again. Whatever you do, they make sure you stay on the path.
I love this game because it’s one of the few games for adults out there.
Sexuality, violence - it’s our choice that we make in the game.
And I believe the games should be going towards that ultimate VR experience where everything is possible and allowed.
For me people who complain about gore or slavery in this game are simply out of place. It’s like coming to heavy metal gig and complaining that it’s not a rap gig.
And all these forms of censorship are ridiculous.
Does anyone actually believe that breast or a vagina in a computer game can trigger the American kid to acts of violence?
Does anyone actually believe that gamers in Germany need to have blood colour in their games changed to green as otherwise Adolf is going to return?
As I’ve said before, I don’t mind gore. But I dislike the nonsensical, unrealistic death animations.
I used to use a mod that disabled dismemberment because it was more immersive to have people just fall down in a pool of blood than explode from being stabbed in the gut.
If Funcom made gory death animations that made sense in the context, I’d be happy to see gore. But I’m afraid that would be more work than simply making the bodies not explode (since the animations for dying without dismemberment already exist).
So, I’m not bothered by senseless violence. I’m bothered by nonsensical violence.
Fatalities give me hope that the game can one day recognize the cause of death without needing to do a little dance every time we want to splatter somebody’s brains with an axe.
Im just saying, if we cant add a gore toggle, its only fair we remove the nudity toggle lol (partial is still in the US) So now all those who decide to turn it off in the past are now forced to see the evil bouncing boobs!
(Not saying Full Nudity bc that is only limited in the US to avoid an AO rating )
But its clear, the toggle to cover the boobs, at least, is there for player preference.
With the addition of even more gore, I feel its fair to say we can have a toggle for it, since there are already options in the game to cater to player preferences.
No one complains that another player can cover up evil bouncing boobs on their own screen… Because it doesn’t effect them. Same can happen with all the new blood and gore
I’ll simply say this:
Gore isn’t something as easy to toggle on and off as if you’re deciding whether or not to wear any clothing.
Get REAL.
If you can’t handle gore but love going full nude, GTFO of here.
It is as simple. Gore and blood effects are client side, just like Nudity.
Calm down.
It’s so strange seeing freaks have melt downs over someone offering their request on a forum over something that (again…) doesnt effect them.
I never said I “love” going full nude lol it was used as an example of player preference that is realized ingame clientside.
You can respectfully disagree, if you’d like, over something you never have to toggle off, but if someone offering their opinion on a General Discussion forum triggers you to this extent “GTFO” off the ‘Feedback’ tag…
Exactly. I can’t fathom what could possibly make people these days so thick that they cant understand this… I am not suggesting we change ANYONE’S experience with the game. If they want to get their jollies watching people’s heads explode and guts fall out, I support their freedom to it! I would never dream of even trying to take that away from THEM.
What I am proposing is quite far from censorship, I am suggesting MORE freedom of individual choice. I couldnt care less what others want to see, but apparently it is extremely important to these people what my personal experience is with a game Ive played since launch.
The purpose of the forums is for players who love the game to offer their feedback to shape the game (and Ive seen some of the dumbest suggestions get added that DO effect everyone)…
If someone was suggesting the game have gore removed completely for everyone, I would be right there standing against it and would still suggest a toggle. More choice=more freedom.
You can disagree with me, that’s fine. I don’t care for being mocked. You can joke that my reason for wanting this is that I’m “soft”. But the truth is you have no idea why I suggest this, and quite honestly I have no reason/desire to explain it to you.
Apparently only your suggestions for the future of the game should be realized? Got news for you, your opinion of it’s future is in no way more valuable than mine. We can disagree, but at the end of the day, if my suggestion doesnt effect you but you have a problem with it, ask yourself why you are so weak that you need to control someone else’s experience with a game they love… Honestly, Im tired of even responding to you, you have your ideals, I have mine.
