Great Axe moveset

Please swap the first light strike (jab with the haft) of the great axe moveset with either the 2nd (broad swipe) or 4th (downward diagonal strike) light strikes. The light combo strikes in general are hard to land, but the first strike in particular has a tendency to not land and is exceptionally easy to interrupt. I imagine it’s because of its small hitbox. It’s even worse when locked onto an enemy, doubly so if the enemy is on the shorter side (such as wolves).
I would also appreciate if the heavy moveset was reworked, assuming that’s possible. To me, it’s a bit strange that the great axe has such slow, stamina-costly heavy attacks considering how they usually have no armor penetration, low reach, and don’t apply particularly great status effects. It also just looks a bit boring compared to the light combo (which looks very smooth, even if it isn’t that good in combat).

Reworking the animations is not something I’m opposed to, but you don’t sound aware that alongside the two handed hammer, it’s one of the strongest pvp weapons. Insane reach and damage, and of the few weapons with which you can even manage to do combos in pvp, sometimes.

The 2h axe heavy attacks is one of the best in the game, in terms of reach, speed and damage. Have you tried… the other two handed weapons? The two handed sword for example is totally useless in the current version of the game. Does everything worse than the hammer and greataxe. THAT one needs rework, badly. Spear is also bad.

Katana is fine without being oppressive like the hammer or greataxe.

The very first point about the opening light attack on locked on (human) targets specifically is what i’ll agree on 100%. I’ll literally walk up to an NPC, lock on, try to open with a light attack and just miss. It just feels bad.

Something could be done about that, other than that i think GAxe is mostly in a good place. The (new) moveset feels nice, and a Star Metal GAxe performs well enough i feel.

An aside, i wouldn’t mind getting the ability to bash from block, though. Be it with shield or Greataxe, i’d love to be able to push out a reactionary hard bash or shoulder charge upon blocking.

And yes, Greatsword should absolutely get some (mostly) mild tweaks. What i still find puzzling is the special attack on Greatsword, i get that it is supposed to be unblockable for decent damage but it just isn’t satisfying to use to me with its heavy downsides.

I honestly would like to see more creativity on the special attacks, and to see improvement to some.
Creativity along the lines of what Katanas bring, and mostly how they used to function with their combo. I’m not saying bring that back but i still think it makes for a good example on satisfying special attacks with a good base moveset variety.

The special attack on the greatsword is an absolute joke. Takes 100% of your stamina while being slow, hard to land… and not even doing noticeably more damage than a standard heavy attack. It’s one hundred per cent useless, just a suicidal move for memes. The block on the greataxe is clunky and not really that useful but eh, can find use for it in pve sometimes at least.

Give greatsword a block too, or something creative like the Katana special.

I love it for the realism. Because if you would do a move like that in real-life combat with a greatsword, that’s what would happen.

As for gameplay, I agree with you, it’s stupid and useless. The normal greatsword moves at least try to do things right, which is why I’d love to like the greatsword, it’s just somewhat inefficient for what it’s trying to do. But the overhead chop move is just dumb.

Playing beta, having used a variety of anything I can craft or find, it feels like there is this invisible forcefield that pushes my light attacks away from an enemy.

While this is in live already, I really only used preferred weapons. It’s just become more apparent to me now.

The only weapons that don’t bounce off are katanas and hammers, ime. I don’t use q-lock, however I do use auto facing. I wonder if that is part of it? But ya, daggers and great axes… Those hits clearly land but do nothing.
