Before I start, I DESPERATELY wanted this to be a great update. At first when I logged on, everything looked great. Surfaces rendered in, armor looked great, no blurring. In fact, many of the details looked crisper. I was really happy.
And then the purge happened.
Surfaces immediately blurred
Rubber banding like I’ve never seen before.
Lag.
Building items failing to render in.
Seven crashes/freezes in an hour
Every time someone on our official server purged, without fail, crash, lag, hang ups, skin issues. After two hours I gave up.
I was really looking forward to this update. It has so much promise. I loved the loot in the last update, but I was dreading how the servers would handle this. They simply can’t. I was in voice chat with seven players on my server last night from various clans and we all had the same issues.
I was also enjoying myself, the Frost Temple was great, and Mounds of the Dead is giving even better loot than before. The purge was also quite fun. But the lag is really really bad. I knew this would be the case, but it did surprise me a bit at how terrible it was at times. I’m hoping it was because yesterday was the first day this was all released, but who knows.
Then maybe they shouldn’t be plugging the core of the update as the new purge if servers can’t handle said purge. This is an absolute mess. This is what I am dealing with on my server. I mean what is the point in playing? This is an embarrassment.
Not going to lie but, how did anyone actually think that official servers with any sort of population would be able to handle mutliple purges at once? Heck, how would most private servers with healthy populations, especially heavily modded ones, be able to handle multiple purges as once? I just do not understand this decision. It should just put people into a queue, not “ok lets have 4 at the same time! OH NO THE SERVER CRASH! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!”
Dont forget 10 minute avatars. But yeah even the PvEC played well this evening so I’m thinking purges are going on like mad and when that newness calms down we may see things back to normal
