The original Siptah lore was done well as was the Black Corsairs/Invaders addition, but the Dawn/Dusk lore is lacking. While it would be nice to learn something about the Fractured Citadel or the Accursed (they think they must have gone to hell because it’s sooty), what I’d really like learn is something about the Grey Ones.
Outside of their armor stating that Grey Ones are taller than humans (doh) and their hearts are streaked by evil like supermarket chicken is streaked by fat, there is next to no background on them.
Where did they come from? How did they get here? Which god/gods are they aligned with. Who made the figurines?
Surely some of the Invaders have done some investigations and left some of their notes laying around.
my guess about the grey ones is that they are the black ones from the stories, also mentioned in Age of Conan… but they played it safe and changed the name.
Interesting connection - there definitely does seem to be some link between them - The Pool of the Black Ones, the Pools of the Grey Ones. In the story, the Black Ones are inhumanly tall, ancient, evil etc, and of course the pool shrunk living beings down into small statuettes/dolls, while the Pools of the Grey Ones make living beings out of small statues. I can certainly see how Funcom might have chosen to just reverse that process for gameplay reasons (since the way the original pool works would be hard to make use of as a game element). I’m undecided whether they are meant to be the same people, or a related group - but there definitely seems to be a link.
