Have tavern patrons fight when the Stygians/Purge comes

I think it would be a nice touch when the stygian raiders come (purge) that few/some/most/all of the patrons drinking in the Tavern help fight them off.

Yes, they’d be largely useless, and yes, they’d arguably mostly all fall, but I think it would be a lot fun. And in a way would make sense; they’d likely be drunk - and silly - enough to stand and fight for their bar! However foolish that may be for them in reality. Those lucky enough to survive just go back to drinking again.

If anyone is worried: As these days we can 100% control when a purge happens there is no fear of losing a valuable Tavern Patron; you simply just check who’s there before the purge and hire anyone you’d like to.

For added hilarity, if there are any Stygians in the tavern at the time, they side with the attackers.

Personally, this one would rather not see the sanctity of the taphouse violated and view it like the peace of the waterhole.

Not saying the counter point is bad idea, just this one is ok with the “cluck the outside world, I’m drinking” attitude currently on display.

You make a good point.

Which is great and makes sense I think anywhere else other than the Exiled Lands. These are savage lands after all. If an exile is going to sit around and drink whilst there are raiders raiding and potentially ruining their watering hole, I think at the very least they don’t deserve to drink there, or last long in the Exile lands as a whole.

I would ask my Barkeep not to serve these cowards in future, in a land where the weak perish and the strong thrive!

I think that’s a great Idea. I think it would be wonderful if the patrons had a chance of reacting according to their race. Some patrons attacking the stygian purge raiders, some patrons attacking you, some patrons attacking each other…

This one would think it makes more sense being the Exiled Lands.

Everyone is stuck in this hellish fake world. Doomed to never leave. If someone isn’t directly bothering you, why go to the trouble of opposing them?

Also, it’s not your bar
No one has to pay for drinks at their own bar
You can kick out unwanted guests at your own bar.
Those Zamoran barkeeps are the ones that own the place, we just give them the place to do it at.

To be honest, I think everything you’ve written is completely incorrect. So I think it’s best just to agree to disagree. You don’t like the idea, that is of course 100% okay

Adjusting a perhaps overly snarky response.

They aren’t the Exile’s bar.
At best, the Exile is the landlord, but not the bar owner.

This one is flumoxed that anyone would not reserve right to refuse service at their own bar and does not think the bar owner has the right to remove undesired patrons and cut off those not paying.

What if it randomly had fisticuffs among the patrons

As soon as they get an update so fisticuffs do knock out rather than killy damage.
Then the unruly patron can be put to work.

I had made a suggestion that if it needs to be opt in. We should have the option with the tavern keeper of " Free drinks on the house!" which after a minute will trigger a bar fight because the patrons are all drunk and beligerent.

How about a good old fashioned bar brawl?

I hope they go with this idea

I do not think this is a practical request. The patrons probably have limited AI to reduce operating cost on the server, and having them all fight would be adding a large number of additional AI into an event that is already spawning a bunch of AI and likely the culprit behind the massive AI issues servers have been experiencing since Chapter 2.

I think a more practical reaction to a purge would be for all the patrons to run away and despawn.
