This is just terrible having to restock our archers. They fire at the silliest things and this mechanic of restocking is just another micro management time waster that adds nothing to the game.
Who made the decision to go down this way and cost us more playing time due to restocking? It was not a good decision.
If Archers were to start targeting enemies consistently and could fire without exposing themselves somehow (they hit defensive walls/fences WAY too often unless left in the open) then itâd be fine.
Basic arrows for free, specials are finite - works for me. The âarrow potâ would be fine, too.
Normal arrows will automatically/magically be re-stacked for Thralls.
It was an active design decision to not have other arrow types magically appear in a thralls inventory.
@Tascha mind if I give an idea that you can send to the developers for them to talk about that could in a way solve or improve restocking thralls with arrows?
I think the idea of some kind of resource box for arrows that thralls could draw from is a good idea. But honestly, archer thralls are mostly decoration anyway. They look nifty, standing up on the walls of your keep. However, their AI makes them act like theyâre blind drunk. Sharpshooters, they are most definitely not.
Can we get a âthrall pot for arrowsâ? Call it a fletcher or armory, but a centralized storage which supplies all the archers within range with arrows.
Well, my kind of unwritten point there is worrying about implementing an âarrow potâ or âarmoryâ or whatever is rather pointless when all archers, regardless of tiers, are basically building ornaments and nothing more. Before worrying about their ammo, might want to actually fix them so they can shoot stuff. Ya know?
I am thinking if thralls that can fight and equip a bow have a new slot that is for a quiver (the default being a flint arrow quiver) so that quiver`s arrow will be the default arrow they fire after all of the lets say snake arrows have been used up. So if I were to give my thrall a Harden steel arrow quiver then the default arrow they will fire will be of course be harden steel arrows. As it would make sense as you go through the tech tree as why would you and your thralls still use Flint arrows when you can have them use these much better iron arrows for example as it will also show progression as to make the player to me feel like they are really going up the chain of survival in this harsh land.
Though the quiver version for an arrow will only apply to non special arrows like bone, flint, Iron, Harden steel, obsidian, Star metal, Dragon bone etc. each with their own unique look as maybe they can be shown on the thrall if possible to add immersion to the game. These quivers can be learned in Feats as they are in their respective arrow`s unlock.
Though there will also be some downsides as to balance it out. Like for one is that it will be harder to recover fired default arrows from the quiver as to prevent farming as much as well as to craft I am thinking one main ingredient could be a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or one stack of the respective arrows though luckily once players equip this quiver onto a thrall they won`t have to worry as much about if they got enough good arrows on their thralls in a raid or Purge especially once the AI has gone through improvements.
I like the idea of progression of base arrows used that âquivers can be learned in Feats as they are in their respective arrow`s unlockâ. Clearly with the âart departmentâ cranking out new DLCs, they have time to design different looks as well.
The âbasicâ arrow type should improve based on the tier of the Archer thrall. So: flinthead for t1, ironhead for t2, steel/razor for t3, and hardened steel for t4/legendary.
