Platform: Steam
Issue Type: Crash
Game Mode: Online Private
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: Vets having Fun
Mods: AOC, immersivearmor, Emberlight, LCDA_bestiary, AnimalCage, Pippi, UnlockableContainers, StacksizePlus, LTs_Brewery, Pickup+
Bug Description:
When I start up Conan, I can go into the Settings/Keybind tab with no issues. But if I connect to a server OR start a single player game and try to go into Settings /Keybind, it crashes with the following dialog box: The UE4-Conansandbox game has crashed… Fatal error!
Bug Reproduction:
I can replicate this every time I connect to a server or play a single player game. I am up to date on all drivers according to Driver Booster Pro and I always do a clean install of the nvidia drivers. This was a fresh install of Conan as of four hours ago.
Had same problem couple times but on singleplayer (0 mods) - it fixed itselft after few crashes. I don’t really know what was causing it as i did no change to any setting at all.
To start off with a side-note.
LTs_Farming (which is the actual name of the mod, not Brewery) is a mod that had it’s last update in 2020… so, maybe try to not use outdated mods that actually add recipes and stuff, since that whole system has been reworked a million times since then
According to comments it literally disables the current construction system in the game…
In your log though you have a keybind warning for this: [2023.01.17-18.44.03:775][116]KeyBindings:Warning: Could not find a key mapping to match QuickPickup. This mapping will not be included in the list of available key bindings.
right before the crash.
That one is referring to Pickup+
Which has this on its page:
Along with some comments:
So what this tells me is that you’re experiencing the same issue… and the instructions there are required in order to prevent that. Basically the mod is trying to reference a key mapping that doesn’t exist until you manually add it via that ini file.
Hi Xevyr,
Thank you so much for putting such a detailed explanation in on how to fix this. On so many other games you ask for help like this and get a bunch of snarky comments. Really Appreciate your help with this!
To expand on that, not all mods are necessarily bad if they’re outdated, depending on how well the mod was made and whether it changes original files or only adds to them via proper means the shelf-life of a mod may vary.
You have some that will pretty much work forever and you have others that need to be updated every time the game gets an update as well.
Some modders generally update their mods just to be on the safe side and show they’re “active” when major game updates happen even if the mod doesn’t require it, some don’t and their mods still work.
However if a certain mod had its last update literally years ago, then it’s a bit of a safe bet that the modder “retired” from it or moved on to other games / hobbies and the mod has been abandoned and when we’re talking years then in most cases even the most well-made mods will have something off about them, even if they still load and function.
Generally if comments are allowed on the page, then looking at them can be helpful to see if others are complaining about crashes etc, like you’ve seen in the above screenshots…
