I mean, yeah, that’s like, the definition of a bug. It’s a notably bad bug, but a bug that’s worse than others is still a bug. Also, if you can’t actually get into the game, I’d describe it as more of a failure to boot than a crash. Regardless, have you actually gone through the bug-reporting process on this?
According to ISTQB:
A Software DEFECT / BUG is a condition in a software product which does not meet a software requirement (as stated in the requirement specifications) or end-user expectation (which may not be specified but is reasonable). In other words, a defect is an error in coding or logic that causes a program to malfunction or to produce incorrect/unexpected results.
ISTQB Definition
- severity : The degree of impact that a defect has on the development or operation of a component or system.
Classification
The actual terminologies, and their meaning, can vary depending on people, projects, organizations, or defect tracking tools, but the following is a normally accepted classification.
- Critical: The defect affects critical functionality or critical data. It does not have a workaround. Example: Unsuccessful installation, complete failure of a feature.
- Major: The defect affects major functionality or major data. It has a workaround but is not obvious and is difficult. Example: A feature is not functional from one module but the task is doable if 10 complicated indirect steps are followed in another module/s.
- Minor: The defect affects minor functionality or non-critical data. It has an easy workaround. Example: A minor feature that is not functional in one module but the same task is easily doable from another module.
- Trivial: The defect does not affect functionality or data. It does not even need a workaround. It does not impact productivity or efficiency. It is merely an inconvenience. Example: Petty layout discrepancies, spelling/grammatical errors.
and then comes the “Priority” …
Defect Priority
DEFECT PRIORITY , also known as Bug Priority, indicates the importance or urgency of fixing a defect. Though priority may be initially set by the Software Tester, it is usually finalized by the Project/Product Manager.
ISTQB Definition
- priority : The level of (business) importance assigned to an item, e.g. defect.
Classification
Priority can be categorized into the following levels:
- Urgent : Must be fixed immediately / in the next build.
- High : Must be fixed in any of the upcoming builds but should be included in the release.
- Medium : May be fixed after the release / in the next release.
- Low : May or may not be fixed at all.
Priority is also denoted as P1 for Urgent, P2 for High and so on.
NOTE : Priority is quite a subjective decision; do not take the categorizations above as authoritative. However, at a high level, priority is determined by considering the following:
- Business need for fixing the defect
- Defect Severity /Impact
- Defect Probability /Visibility
- Available Resources (Developers to fix and Testers to verify the fixes)
- Available Time (Time for fixing, verifying the fixes and performing regression tests after the verification of the fixes)
Defect Priority needs to be managed carefully in order to avoid product instability, especially when there is a large of number of defects.
@Walkerbait81 sorry to state the obvious here, but are you updated to the latest version on your Xbox1? Because there was a hotfix released a couple of days ago which addresses crashing issues. You could give that a shot if you havent already?
No crash in PS4pro the whole weekend. But I dont use Admin mode, which crashes often.
And I had one crash. When I closed the game…
I have decided to download Conan again, i have been regularly on the forums and i dont see the same issues popping up since the last fix, so fingers crossed the game is back to its best.
First of all, I don’t know why I got into this dumb and pedantic argument to begin with, so my apologies to @Walkerbait81 for that, but regardless maybe we can agree that this constitutes a critical bug whereas the crap we usually complain about here is not.
Also obviously some people are having crashes, some are not. Which means bug reports to Funcom for this sort of thing are more important if you actually wanna see the thing fixed.
Ah well, game took 7 attempts to load and crashed straight away. I started single player no problem then went back to server and has crashed another 5 times. I’ve already changed resolution to 720p and double checked xbox is up to date, my ping says 65, is that good enough? Its a wired connection
I had this issue Thursday night after patch release. IT was a full server, but haven’t had it since, and server has been half full. Did the 720p thing as well. Still get long load time for place-ables and doors when i first log in for the day. Otherwise, once loaded it has worked for me. Hope it gets worked out for you.
My friend, I had fun too as you know and we discussed in the past, and I tried to keep on playing until I could, then I “stumbled upon” Dragon’s Dogma game (Capcom) and all my remaining interest in CE has vanished. Ok there’s no build feature in DD but the fighting mechanics are fast, reactive and satisfying. You have a system of “pawns” that fight alongside you (up to 3 AI pawns + you player), different classes and skills, big heavy boss to fight against. Bosses you can climb up to and try to maim in order to slay them.
There is a good editor of the character with many weapons and armor, many that you can mix to obtain the look you love. You choose a class and progressing with the game you can change it, from basic shield-sword warriors, to healing mages, to archers or big weapons wielder (oohh my dear friend how really “heavy” those 2 hammers are ^^)
Ok, it’s an old game with no building/survive feature at all, but I can trade 'em off for a funny wide world-exploration game with dungeons and monsters (undeads, lizards kins, wolves, bats, chimera, to dragons obviously cyclops or ogres and more).
(by the way I’m talking about a game that is old, very old under a videogame perspective: 2012)
There are a plenty of mechanics and features that could have been great for CE and this it’s the saddest part of all, because I always said that the artistic side of Conan is lovely, even if the graphic is not so accurate and animations well, most of the time slides everywhere (<3), but again: I loved the open world (even if in the end all monsters and enemies behaves in the same way, and you fight in the same way, you behave in the same way every biome you visit/live in).
Playing since a month ago without stopping since d1 means that I loved the rough idea of Conan Exiles and I supported it until I could, even if I think that selling a full price game in those old (and current) conditions is a scam.
But in the end the game never moved on from that rough idea, it really is a “zoo simulator” in the end, all the good ideas (and Conan has some true good idea inside) are realized in a clumpsy way and, sadly, fails to deliver in the end.
@Lleilwin @cromsfaithful it can’t really be said better than this is the best game I’ve ever played.
It’s just sick. Yeah there are bugs, but the latest update changed combat to be amazing. Key phrase her though is “latest Update”. None of the new dungeons where dlc. The bugs and combat and construction receive constant attention and fine tuning. The game gets better every day.
To be frank, I loved it back a whole two Mays ago when it was released. I’m one of those guys who wants to see Conans Atlantian Sword get some more attention lol. The game was perfect then! Now, it’s so much better it’s hard to imagine!
The combat update gote to put down the Witcher and start playing with my old chums and the amount that has improved since I left astonished me.
Keep it up, this game is great.
Dragons Dogma rocks
I do understand how you feel here Tselem, and Im not going to harp on about it much more. All I would restate is this. Bugs will continue to emerge sporadically as long as Funcom is still adding content. I firmly believe that when they are done adding content, Funcom will concentrate on and release one BIG final patch, which will eliminate all but the most trivial bugs. Might be worth checking up on it arou d that point. I hope Im right anyway.
Now enough about that for now. I have heard whispers of Dragons Dogma here and there, but know almost nothing at all of it. I do like Capcom though as they make my favourite game series (Resident Evil franchise). Its age doesnt bother me at all. So it is good you and @jesstheripper say? A couple of questions.
- Does it have an in game trading system?
- Can we travel solo without pawns?
- Is it brutal/gorey?
Please do share what has improved the overall feel of the combat system. I don’t see anything new just some new animations and a few new weapons that have been added. The overall feel of the combat system is the same, it is still wonky and it is still missing fluidity.
Yes yes and yes! The character creation is amazing, you trade items through your main pawns ( your created followers) and the combat system is gory and slick! Much recommended for sure.
The main fix I’ve seen is in pvp situations you used to be able to unlock from an opponent and walk away from their attacks to Regen stamina and Dodge hits. Now I’m even able to land greatsword hits in pvp. That was a major change and big success to me
If you are talking about hyper armor it’s still there AND as i said before in another thread, you can walk around someone who is making their attack animations and just spam FA like daggers. It looks silly and i have said it before the only fix combat needs is for us to be able to walk while we are swinging our weapons and blocking, this also means for combos.
Now you make and attack you cannot move, because you are locked in one position, which means you are a sitting duck for fast attacks.
Before, long ago when I quit playing for a while, you could effectively Dodge any attack by walking away. That’s been fixed big time. I love the combat right now, it’s along the lines of dark souls which I feel they where trying to replicate.
Otherwise, I think the combo lock is part of the strategy. You can’t just run around swinging wildly!
Yes you can move while swinging how else can you reach to your opponent, being locked in one place while doing a slow combat animation ? I think not. And i can assure this is how i beat a guy that is 20 levels above me i walked left and right while he was doing his power attacks, this is how i closed up on his back.
I can see some of the similarities with DS and if they are bent on going on that route they have much work to do, DS combat is fast and fluid CE is not, it’s slow and clunky, we make fancy aerobics with our weapons while we do combos, they are easily avoidable. In DS no such thing.
I mostly use the short sword or the long sword for pvp.
And as for the guy you killed, it sounds like the combat mechanics worked just fine lol. I’m sure he learned from it.
I’d like to see a Sprint attack and a jump attack, but right now with the greatsword having a power attack, all weapons being fast enough to land attacks on retreating emies ( I tested them all with my clan mate) and lag at a minimum combat is pretty good!
