I agree its a brilliant game, loads to do. Love building castles. Its the constant crashes has me pulling whats left of my hair out
CE EU is still on⊠1.? which is running great. (ps4) Which is patch after fixed abunch of stuff with underwater place.
My CE NA is on latest patch. (also ps4) its running abit meh. I use this mostly now to test run game on current state before I update my main saves on EU copy.
Theyâve hit a few good major updates. The game has improved⊠but as mention, they really really need some dev kits for consoles so many of these âbadâ patches wouldnt happen.
Like alot of people said thou⊠take a break. Patch or two in will fix alot of stuff, will get a golden moment on consoles. Great time come back.
Till then, Fo76 and MHW for me. XD
Thanks for that feedback. Thatâs a good data point! ![]()
Sadly, a lot of us with castles on servers canât just wait it out. Iâm glad I have my holdings on PC, as my PS4 ones are on shaky ground due to playability.
Openworld games have glitches yes, but we cannot absolutely compare Witcher 3 to CE please, the first is a gem, even with all itâs flaws, while Conan Exiles is a stone, carved with good ideas yes, but simply a stone, a stone that often fails to roll even on a flat ground.
I always wondered how cool the exile lands could have been under Rockstar or CD projekt redâs hands, or even the Guerrilla guys of Horizon zero dawnâŠ
@Tselem I was really hoping to avoid getting further involved in this topic, but you have forced my hand here. I like you buddy, and we have gotten along well in the past, but I cannot possibly agree with you here.
I personally feel that it is not only a perfectly valid comparison, but a fair one at that. They are all (really good) open world games, and I personally consider them to be the âbig 3â of open world swordplay fantasy (Im sure you all know what I mean here). While it may not be an across the board victory, I feel that there are a number of departments where Conan Exiles not only equals The Witcher 3, but easily surpasses it. For example, the superior religion system, it has much more weapon freedom and selection, much better environmental diversity (ie-landscape and terrain), we can actually own a home of our own and build things, other characters dont look like dropouts from a Shakespeare play. Im genuinely sorry to hear you think that Conan Exiles is âjust a stoneâ, because personally to me its a finely sculpted masterpiece. Even if it does have bugs at the moment. So basically you are telling me that you CE sucks because it has bugsâŠ? If I am reading this wrong, then please I do encourage you to set the record straight and correct me. So, you can forgive the bugs in The Witcher 3 and Skyrim, but not Conan ExilesâŠ? Sounds like a double standard to me. When I first started playing Skyrim I couldnt even complete the thieves guild questlines OR the main questline. I started playing this game as a Skyrim fix, to tie me over to the TES 6. NowâŠafter more than a year, Im still here, Im completely and utterly hooked, and still havent even had a hiatus. And Im not even usually a survival genre player. For me the results speak for themselves.
CD Projekt Red are a good company, granted. But Conan Exiles run by RockstarâŠ!? Unfortunately Im going to have to decline your generous offer.
And further support a company who brags about working their developers to the bone? Heck, no. I donât care how many hundreds of millions of dollars of investment they have, any company who openly brags about working their developers over 80 hours a week is not a good one.
And you know that FC handles that differently? But looking at ex-employees ratings, FC has different problems (the management and communication).
And did they brag? Its called crunch-week and is a (negative) thing in the game-development-branchâŠ
People know about that in the industry and still want to work there. No one is forced to work there⊠Not at Funcom, not at Rockstar. Yet people want to work there, even when they know about sth like crunch-week, etc. And people work there for several years/centuriesâŠ
80 hours a week is not work, itâs called slavery, at least in Europe.
My most was 70/week⊠Was when we delivered a failed update and had to reverse many things back to get the system stable again. And it was while I was working for the government as a Software developer
And the next thing, at least in Austria, it is standard in the IT-branch to have a clause thats called: âALL-INâ. This means there are no overtime hours and you can go home, when the work is FINISHED.
And you get nothing for this extra hours⊠No time âbufferâ, no payment. NOTHING.
And with our latest selected government, its even legally to work 12hours a day⊠Horray for the idiots who voted for a pro-company-party and will do it again in ~1month.
@zerog: the thing is, people know about this working hours but are still eager to work there. The same with amazon warehouses⊠Its not that well paid and many hours, but there are still people happy to work there (because you have to have zero education or just the basicsâŠ).
Understandable.
Religion system?
What religion system?
there is no system here, there is only a series of buildable things, âdressed asâ religion system. Everything here is âdressed as somethingâ but doing really nothing, the only âsuperiorâ thing (compared to those games) is that here you can âbuild (almost) everywhereâ, but nothing else.
Slaves and pets are not alive, are not even near to look like they are alive: every living being in your settlement is a mannequin, standing there doing nothing (not mentioning workers ok, ordancers that ⊠dance, and not all kind of dance tbh), priests or thugs, archers, tigers, spiders, rhinos⊠everything is standing there as a statue, dead. Not even making âemojiesâ as when they were free.
Fallout 4, has a better settlement system, limited yes, no buildable everywhere yes (not true, some mods as âportable construnction kitâ give you the chance to build where you want, and some mods are available even for PS4) but at least functional.
The combat system is flat and laggy, the weather system is buggy and repetitive, while the artistic section of this game is cool (as I always said) but technically rough to say the least.
I understand that Funcom is not a triple A software house but do not enter in the âworking rightsâ making comparison, I "donât care much about taht aspect, Iâm an user I simply say my opinion on a product.
CE reached 48th patch and âweightsâ as a triple A game (or even more) without having the quality of a triple A, and without fixing glitches present since day one: they just introduce more static mannequins and esthetics to keep the game alive, but itâs not refreshing the game.
I bought this game for freaking 70 euros at day1 and yes, many thing improved since that day but, by jove, the game was not even an alpha, maybe today isâŠafter a year.
I wonder what will be of CE in a couple of years (if it survives itself), â300â GB of a game that crashes, fails itâs own features, and keep adding superficial things that causes more glitches and bugs?
Really?
I donât think that will happen. People who canât afford more expensive substitutes will continue to make a market for those items, and the moral implications of the issue are difficult no matter which side of the line you stand on. I think that guarantees that there will be no political solution to the issue.
During down times, fight for 20+ hours. (I get by honestly)
During âonâ times. 60-70+ is pretty normal for me, and swapping 1st and 3rd. Not being poor and no choice⊠its just how my job is.
I can tell them 40 limit please, theyâll do it. Iâd rather do the 12-13+ a day for extra cash.
As for Rockstar⊠R* is into ânewâ stuff, they ruin CE with some moronic character creator issue, selling outfit per thing for 9.99$, and selling religion coins or some other thing.
I think most of my Fave games are from Devs who didnt have access to everythingâŠand push time limit to last day of disc printing. XD
Person Choice. Capcom would be the one Iâd want touching Conan. Dragons Dogma combat and magic System is bar none. And Fighting large Monsters is basically Capcoms bread and Butter. They have ps2 games that Make this gens large monster Ai look like trash. (Monster Hunter)
BUT⊠as a Japanese Company⊠I doubt it would be pulled off the same way Funcom team did it.
Iâll be frank, Funcom did CE, It Did well. CE II? They learned alot and can make a nice leap and jump into new exile lands.
I remember ******** on Morrowind when I saw it, and **** on it I did. then roommate happen get xbox with goty version and I finally played it. LOVED IT.
I Love CE, It goes in Direction I want a game thats right for me to go. Like ALL GAMES. We can nitpick every feature to no end cause its not prefect. Even Mh and DD have flaws, GTAO has quite a few despite my enjoyment.
No matter who worked on it, it have issues of some sort⊠Iâm sure if R*, EA, Capcom, Bethesda etc had there hands on it, this thread would still exist in some form. XD
Hows the game running after fix, is it worth downloading again.
Nope, the problems that caused crashing with the inability to log back in are still there (on console that is).
They said they knew about it on Wednesday, but it would not be in the hotfix that came out Friday.
Therefore, it will take a minimum of a week to get another hotfix certification from Sony and Microsoft. Anyone who is having the problem are SOL, they will loose everything (100+ hrs of work) due to decay.
That is the main problem with this game on console.
PC get the major buggy updates and get the majority of the problems fixed withing the first week, whereas console have to fight with the bugs for upwards of 2 months before they are corrected.
Thought so, cheers. I wont wait half a day downloading this beast of a game. We better not give out too much or the gestapo will shut this thread down aswell. Its great that we all have somewhere to share our love for the game, so long as we say what they want us to
It is a Funcom problem for not testing updates properly.
I have said it before, all games have bugs however, I have never seen a game have so many game crashing bug with EVERY update or dlc released. Hell this is worse than an NcSoft game.
Tselem it is a survival game, of course we are going to build things using the religion system. We can build weapons, armour, arrows, food, potions, lighting devices, water sources, raw materials, statues, ornaments bigger shrinesâŠis that it? Oh wait, summon gods, conjure protective bubbles. Then theres the Midnight Grove and Sunken City dungeons, which are centered around us proving ourselves to and releasing a captured god each respectively. We can also talk to a trainer for each religion and hear more about them. Collectively speaking, that is a lot more than any of the other big open world games religiinsystem I know of.
Sure ill agree with you here in part. I have never claimed the game is perfect in every way. Some AI improvements are at the top of most peoples wish lists at the moment. I would love to see thralls randomly do emojis, whistle to themselves, cough, dancers change dances, wave and cheer as we approach. It may happen, it may not, I do hope so. But even if it doesnt, I still have a load of fun everytime I turn on the game. Funcom are nowhere near as wealthy as a lot of other game companies. If this is as good as it gets content wise, then I dont regret my purchase.
I dont find the combat system âflat and laggyâ at all. For a survival game, its great. Some people I know even like it more than TES combat. The weather is fine, and of course its repetitiveâŠits weather. Rain, shine, cloud and snow, what else do we need? We also have the sandstorm mechanic.
While I feel that is unfortunate, fair enough. But Rockstar has their own issues. They have bugs in their games too, almost all of their dlcs revolve around online PvP (no offence intended here PvPers; I just wanted some story expansions too), $60 pre-order packs, its almost impossible to recieve any direct reply or correspondence from them. Frankly I dont care if people freak out here, to me GTA5 was one of the most overrated games I have ever played. I didnt even make it to the end before I traded it in.
A lot of those updates were free content (yes FREE content), and frankly I feel the game was in a great place bug wise after the Unnamed City update. They will get it sorted again, just watch. I predict that when Funcom is done adding new content, they will fix most of the issues and give it a final polish. Survival games are utterly renowned for bugs Tselem, just look at Ark, Atlas or Fallout 76. This game is not the exception here.
I like to hope getting a game of the year edition ported to next gen consoles, with even more polish so I can enjoy it all over again. Im sorry to hear you dont like it, because I cant seem to stop playing it.
A crash is a bug. Itâs literally the first thing anybody would think of when trying to explain what a bug is. If you were like âgive me an example of a bug in a programâ to anyone familiar with like, software, the first response would be âfor example if it crashes.â
The game is full of bugs like invisible npcâs, falling through floors, empty settlements and many more all of which were annoying but never stopped me playing. My problem is the game wont go past the loading screen it keeps crashing, the couple of times it did load it crashed as soon as i opened anything with an inventory. I would call that broken not a bug, if your tv did that would you call it a bug
