Hotfix: April 22, 2025

In the words of the Beach Boys “God only knows”

Will this only cover the fixes of new issues that was generated from the update or will there be more historic issues fixed?

Wish they would fix the foundation issue soon.
My thralls are disappearing through floors.

I cannot place ANY of my thralls on the first floor of my base because they keep going through the floors every time i load my save.
Every single time i get back in i have to pick my thralls back out of the floor.

Strange thing is, placeables don’t have this problem, but thralls do.
Everything is up to code with my stability and decay.
This has really become a problem since that last patch and i cannot find any way around it other than placing my thralls in chairs.

Building a zhenga tower over sand has its perks, and its pitfalls.

Funcom is lucky to be its own publisher and not have to pitch the game:

Jokes aside, what we need is a framework for the systems in the game so they do not require hotfixes every time something new is added.

But if you think it is a “Funcom problem” you are wrong. There is one thing I will always praise Funcom for: Honesty.

Some absurdity is said about it, but Funcom problems are only obvious because they tell them. Almost every single popular game you can think of have such basal problems in the code, but instead of openly discussing it, they hide it through “art”.

And it comes from LONG ago, it is not a “modern problem”. Half life used a “train shaped helmet” because they could not make vehicle system work properly due to fundamental ignorance. Blizzard introduced “invisible bunnies” because they could not muster the simple code that was required to keep debuffs on after the debuff applier lost relevance to the environment. I could go on and on about all the very simple and stupid problems Bioware, Bethesda, Blizzard, and etc, had to make simple systems work, and I say simple systems because I know how they are made.

And when someone comes to talk about Larian. Where do we begin? 70% of the content in both BG3 and DOS were cut because their devs could not master the simple art of compounding objects to make it possible to build hundreds of fundamentally different thing using half dozen systems. Which is a given of development.

So while yes, it is a problem that just require planning better you development, it is also not a problem that “Funcom” has or suffers the most among game developers. The only difference is that if you are developing a software for something that is not a game, you have 3 things you cannot do:

  • Hide it under ART
  • Make it fun anyway so the actual functionality is optional
  • Build a fanbase over the thing your software is about

If I am developing an Accounting software and I cannot do fundamental framework planning, it does not matter my software has “pretty graphics”, “nudity” or “gore”, if it does not accomplish the task the software is meant to accomplish, it does not sell.
It does not matter my Accounting software is fun to use or to watch its quirks, if it does not work for accounting, it does not sell.
And it does not matter if my accounting software has a “fanbase”, if I break its functionality in an update, people will simply stop using it and use something else, no matter how much they like mine.

Gaming industry has a pass, and this pass for low standards is given not by industry, not by “market” ( should read Adam Smith instead of repeating the stupid misquoting of the invisible hand), it is entirely given by gamers.

So you are to blame, indeed, when games are made in a way different than Accounting software. As you are to blame for the crappy system in YT recommendations or google search.

Stop complaining about the “running nose” and start complaining about the lack of healthy diet, so to speak.

It does not matter how much you complain about things that are broken, if the things that cause that are the things you think a game should have, and it should not.

If you dont stop requiring a game has “huge levels”, “multiple levels”, “classes”, “DLSS”, and whatnot, maybe game devs would use more time to make actual working systems which will in turn make it much easier to make that irrelevant crap after.

Ps update found in check up.

The issues addressed by the patch are pretty underwhelming. But thanks anyway. The alternative would have been no patch at all.

Agreed. I really don’t understand how Xbox keeps running into problems since that is the console that should have the easiest way to port PC games towards.

Also I am very confused at why they decided to remove that content…it’s not like it was ptw or anything and it added something neat for vets to get. Seriously I would being doing those types of “oops all berries” mistakes just to gain marketing appeal to Easter egg up coming features. But no, 25% of the work for hot fixes was to block that access.

I’m still unable to start Lui Fei’s quest. Is this hotfix was for the living settlements or for the quests of Freya 'n Lui Fei ?

is the patch out so you can dowload it

Downloading.
Not sure why some little nothing of a patch is taking so long.

I had it’s download done before posting my question.

Patch Notes:

  • Liu Fei: Eyes of the Innocent and the Ancient Rhino Horn can now be obtained once more

  • PlayStation: Fixed an issue where players were unable to continue any co-op game if they had active save games on both Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah

  • Sound in the Dregs Dungeon has been restored

  • Living Settlement thralls now correctly obey “Disable Thrall Use” settings

  • Removed unintended rewards as loot from chests (but keep an eye out in the future!)

This is a joke, right?

@AndyB

Seriously Funcom, yet another ‘hotfix’ that Xbox users aren’t a part of. Not that there was anything of importance to me in this ‘hotfix’. Even if Xbox recieved this update, the server browser is still broken after 6+ months so i wouldnt be able to find a populated server anyway (If there are even any populated servers left after half a year of neglect)

Does anyone know what the unintended rewards were ?

Abyssal spear and swords (and maybe armor) that the dev kit suggests is part of an upcoming event in the dregs that got put into the loot tables of the wooden chests around the pirates.

that dev “team” looks like more like a “one man (part time) show” it seems. I’m no software developer, but even to me that looks like an afternoon job.
