How big is too big?

My clan is built in the deserter’s gutter on an official PvP server and a clan attempted to raid us but could not get in (I was standing on the other side repairing). They had 8 guys online. We had 3. They started threatening to report us because we have a base that can’t be raided and we are over the land claim limit. (You can raid it, they just weren’t very good at bombing) I know there isn’t a hard cap and we have went out of our way to not be obnoxious. We are sitting at a little over 21k building pieces. We have guys in our clan using ten year old computers and they have zero issues around our base. We use minimal lighting, we don’t have anything around the map except our base and outside of this clan’s base (our raid FOB) and vaults.

We don’t even have maximum amount of thralls placed. We have 30. They claimed they mass reported us and we’ve already had a suspension once before for almost the exact same reason (only that clan wanted our actual location where we built, so they reported it a bunch of times, poof we are gone for 7 days) My clan mates are freaking out that we should tear our base down and give up. I don’t think we are doing anything wrong or out of line. There’s no lag. The server is stable. We just have a defendable location. Has anyone been banned for that amount before?

Let that sink in.

Most private servers have a rule limit of 10-12k.

Private PvE? Private PvP? Of course some do, some server owners get the very minimum specs for their server when they rent one. So all are servers are not created equal. If you saw the base, it’s an average looking pvp build.

Also a lot of servers that have that low of a build limit allow 60 pop and wipe every two-three months. Comparing apples to oranges there.

I’ve seen others suspended for having over 20k. They weren’t being obnoxious either.

I would go with on SirDaveWolf’s assessment.

If they’ve threatened to report you, there’s a possibility sending in a Zendesk ticket of the threat may net you a positive result but unlikely.

I would prepare either to get suspended/banned or start doing some other prep, I’ll message you.

Sometimes it’s 21k pieces, sometimes it’s 1 random foundation someone forgot to remove.
You can’t do anything if someone decides to spam report your clan.
An under mesh or a skybase is a much safer option than any on-land base if you play officials.
I suggest investing into how to make one if you and your friends want to continue on official servers, or go the private servers route.

Or not cheat.

Very bad advice.

If you don’t have spam outside each end of the gutter for claim, and your just built inside it with each end reinforced, you shouldnt be banned for your base.

However, your enemies can make a phoney, entitled excuse that you are blocking a passageway. Very similar to how building in the crevice is a no no for blocking a path. Those reports would be at the discretion of the Funcom employee looking at the reports. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t ban for such a lousy excuse but it ain’t up to me.

In the end, it’s all about who reports the most. If they spam report you it will be looked at. You have two options: pack up and leave, or leave it and hope for the best. If you haven’t spammed land claim and your base looks “tidy”, you should be ok. (And the people who falsely mass reported should be banned for fake reporting)

But we already know those who spam report are not punished.

How could Funcom really do that?

You can use any email address and any Funcom ID you want in the report. Even Funcom IDs of others on the server.

The reports are not tied to in game accounts whatsoever other than what you give them.

They’d have to change the system entirely including tying reports to the game itself and accounts via a verification method. Notwithstanding the huge problems with ToC, Zendesk, internal policies as you’ve mentioned, accountability and transparency.

True. I’m just assuming in a perfect world that should happen. You’re right, false reports are extremely hard to monitor despite Funcom telling us they handle them.

False reports

Everyone is welcome to submit a ticket and report an infraction. However, be mindful that all reports are thoroughly investigated on a case-by-case basis.

Submitting a report with false or intentionally misleading information will result in a warning and the report being rejected at our sole discretion. Repeatedly submitting false or misleading reports may result in further disciplinary action.

This what I based my reply on, but we know they say one thing and do another sometimes.

Best of luck to the OP.

I’ve seen private PVP servers with dedicated machines have way more restrictions than that.

But even a minimum spec rented server is going to be heads and tails better performance than a Funcom rented server on G-Portal.

Has anyone been banned for that?
Anecddotal, yes
Personal, no

Can you be banned for it?
Absolutely. This one has found no rhyme or reason to the process, no standard. It is the Wild West and every instance of interaction is a law in and unto itself with no connection to any other ruling.
Some seem fair, some seem arbitrary.
Well, that means all are arbitrary, as one may be arbitrarily fair.

Good luck

Yeah they also have a 60 slot server too…that kind off foot traffic you’d have to limit builds.

tmp

No such thing.

But spam reports that are false should be tracked down and squashed that is as bad as undermeshing and any other forms of cheating

Now see, that should be the reasonable thing to do, but sadly, they get away with false reports all the time.

You have less chances to get hit by funcom’s hammer while cheating.
You don’t block any content or god forbid a POI, or even worse a 5 seconds shortcut to a brimstone lake.
We are at the point where it’s safer to cheat than play legit so I won’t be surprised if funcom will just release a “Flying Ziggurat” pack on bazaar.
If you can’t beat it, join it.

But they are not.

As discussed previously there is an assumption that much of the process is automated.

I tend to believe this is the case based on much anecdotal evidence of my own, reports here and elsewhere and acquaintances including 1 instance I watched happen.

Regardless it does not mean that cheating is the answer.

An unfair advantage is very different than poor policies.

It is until they change the reporting system.
Cheat or go private.
It’s got so bad reports spammers use ChatGPT and bots to post hundreds of tickets from “random players on the server.”
