How many people that play Conan Exiles *ACTUALY* know the Conan world. "The movies!?" "The writings!?". And the many stories that surround Conan The Barbarian !:)!

I lol’ed!

No. Mainly at a shooting stand. (not sure if it’s the correct translation for “Stand de tir”). I collect guns and swords and make a point to know how to use all those I own. I spent 30 years in the French Navy so it might possible I learned one or two things about guns and how to them.

Is there a spot in the discord dedicated to lore if not it might be good idea yes

I am trying to adapt a role play like community into my server, hopefully my use of some info from some of the books will help me create a real like Conan experience!!

ahha Sugardome’s question there, what is best in life!! i to am curious as to how many will answer!

man i watched that video sent a fair few replies back, again, it still makes me laugh x), good old Arnie was a heck load more impressive to behold than Jason.

Just thinking. So someone like Conan, raised on the wheel, used to pain anger and aggression xD.

To be in love must be something intense o.O
And confusing. And difficult lol

Just described marriage.

Thanks to my parents,
Conan The Destroyer with Arnie was the first non-animated movie I watched as a kid (or the first one I remember).

It definitely left a huge mark on me. Both The Barbarian and The Destroyer are my all time favourite movies just as Conan is my favourite hero. I watch them every few months and smile like a madman.

I slightly prefer The Destroyer over The Barbarian.
Still remember how Thoth Amon scared the s^*t out of me the first time I watched it.
I was genuinely terrified by him. In fact, he scared me so much that sometimes I still get shivers when Conan enters the hall of mirrors. And I damn love it.
Don’t even get me started on Dagoth and the sounds he made.
As scary as they were it was even more amazing when Conan defeated them and when he got revenge against traitorous Bombata. He then became my hero, my role model.
This movie had everything for a young boy.

Of course I read all the original works by Howard. Off the top of my head I think my favourite is The Tower of the Elephant. Haven’t touched anything from other writers.

Age of Conan.
This game brought Conan’s world to life and gave me one of the best gaming experiences that I will never forget. If you guys haven’t played it then I highly recommend it. I downloaded it again a few days ago after a long break and plan on playing it again soon. Also convinced two of my friends to download it aswell. They have not heard of it before so it will be fun.

Now all the comics await me. Didn’t read even one of them.

Yes, can confirm. Watched Conan as a child and grew up wanting to be a physical laborer, or barbarian, or gladiator.

Also fell in love with athletic blonde chicks, because of Destroyer.

So far so good.

Yes, fking love Age of Conan. I don’t pc master race anymore, but by crom, my kdr was around 4k deaths to 13k kills as a berserker barb. Conqs were my bane.

I badly want AoC 2. Or bring AoC to xbox!

anyone who “knows” the conan canon created by howard knows the movies have damn near nothing to do with howards writingive, been reading ssoc since i was four my dad used to give me his ssoc as coloring books that was 36 years ago , and whats wrong with conans appearance in the game? he’s had hundreds of artist’s depict him in thier own way for over 80 years

Oh, they have a lot to do with Howard’s writing - just not his Conan books. A lot of the first movie’s material is based on Howard’s Kull of Atlantis series.

He looks very short in the bar. He’s also too pale, although that may be because he’s been boozing and wenching in that bar for a year without taking a step outside. Surely even a Cimmerian’s constitution must start showing some signs at that point.

Kull of Atlantis… does Conan take place 10,000 bc? How much older is kull? Shts already pretty ancient

According to Howard’s essay The Hyborian Age, the pre-cataclysmic civilizations (Lemuria, Atlantis, Valusia, etc. and, apparently, Funcom’s Giant Kings’ civilization) existed ~20,000 BC, so it took humanity ten thousand years to reach the peak of civilization we saw in the Hyborian civilization after the old world collapsed.

I’ll have to re-read that, I vaguely remember it, but sounds correct

Hey now I just thought, on closer inspection… doesn’t Funcoms Conan look a bit like a strange merger of the two movie Conans x), been trying to see some similarities between our sandbeast slaying Conan, and the 2 actors we all know, and I kinda feel like they tried to fit both in somehow :L

You’re free to suggest it in the #troubleshooting channel.

One of my all time favorites. I wish they’d do a remake or a sequel.

It’s not everyday you have a videogame featuring David Bowie as 2 NPC’s. That game was and still is way ahead if it’s time.

I was Soooooo so so gutted when Omikron: Exodus never got made.

“Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered. And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men. The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts…” [Points to sword] “This you can trust.”

That is some deep stuff o.o

Lol not sure what I would do of dad said that to me xD. Just looking at famous quotes!!

Did anyone know the answer to what @sugardome said ?
