When you set a thrall to follow you and you have the Well Trained perk, his stats increase. However, his health takes quite a while filling up. So, you either wait or spend resources if you want him/her to fill that bar fast.
This wouldn’t be much of a problem unless you want to RP a bit. You go adventuring, you take your brand new hunter’s tent, the night falls and you want your thrall to sit with you by the fire while the night passes by. However, the thrall won’t use emotes unless you set him to guard. Guess what will happen next time you set him/her to follow? Right. This is a little annoying.
Maybe, when you set a thrall to follow, he/she could get his HP bar filled if he/she was at full health (to avoid exploits).
I’m not sure if this is possible or if it has drawbacks… I haven’t given it much thought beyond pve.
So, any ideas about it?
It has draw backs if not done properly, such as instahealing thralls by having them follow and unfollow.
I think I have a better solution. Instead of granting boosts to Health, grant it to armor instead. Leave the HP alone. This means taking the Vitality bonus away and adding one either directly to Armor, or add more to Grit.
That would be the ideal solution. You should work for Funcom, @Taemien. How come they didn’t think of it?
Why do you need your thrall at full HP if you’re playing house?
Because after playing house I might be in the mood to do a dungeon.
I disagree.
Nerfing the health bonus just so you can role play is a bad idea.
Obviously you’ve never taken on the giant snake in the temple in UC, it stacks poison and can easily kill a level 20 thrall if not killed fast enough.
The scorpion queen also stacks poison and if your thralls health threshold is low enough, she will kill it.
Adding to armor does nothing against poison FYI
Really bad nerf call. Just stop please.
I did, many times. Worse is the one in the lower Arena entrance. It’s not the boss that’s terribly hard. It’s the combination between boss and small snakes that do 2 things: stun the thrall interrupting his combos and add poison stacks really fast.
You have to get rid of them first.
I killed that snake yesterday with a RHTS without any major problem. I always clear the skeletons and the small snakes first, starting from the floor above. The boss comes up and she’s dead. The same goes for the one in the UC, but it’s a little easier. Less small snakes and no skeletons.
I read another comment from you speaking about this poison problem, but I couldn’t yet confirm it. Poison was always a problem in low survival thralls, but it was only kethal if the fight took long enough. Seems to be more or less the same…
I kill the giant temple snake every single day, and I see the effects of the poison stack on my thrall. Taemiens idea is NOT the solution.
This is how nerfs start.
Why? Why do you even go there, @JJDancer ? For the fun of it? Because the reward…
For the gold and silver in the chests.
The cellar is richer even before you get into real trouble no? But sure, nothing wrong with that, @JJDancer .
But tell me, are thralls worse when it comes to poison resist? They didn’t look worse and I’m liking a lot the way they resist dmg in general. Less hp, but way higher dmg resistance due to gritt. In the end, the hp conservation is there. That’s why I’m way less unhappy about the nerf. You probably read that I was pussed mad about it…
I do not recall what your thoughts were on the 3.0 changes, I just know that Funcom finally got it right, so we do not need people saying lets change it again.
The health bonus is essential IMO. Poison effects are about the same as pre 3.0 but thralls do not have a gazillion HPs anymore.
The snake run is part of my daily routine and I may have a level 5 follower at the moment that I am leveling up. Without that health bonus they would easily die.
Yes, that’s a problem, @JJDancer .
They have less hp, but higher armor. In the end it’s pretty much the same, poison and bleed excluded. I assume their armor does zilch when it comes to poison defense, eh?
That being the case, sure. We would be killing them with lower hp.
Why don’t you take your thrall to the jungle? It’s a very good and safe leveling spot… boring af, but it works… I do that and check the pagoda for thralls meanwhile.
Well you can sit there and play house for another two minutes while they heal up the additional HP.
I literally drop and have followers re-follow in the field during heavy server load, it’s not an issue. They heal quite quickly.
Not when the day light is passing dude!
Listen, it’s no biggie, but I would prefer a more elegant solution.
I liked Tamien’s idea, but JJ raised a fair point.
You don’t play house with your thralls? If I was on PC, I would do it much more often.
I’m not arguing that there shouldn’t be an improvement there. If there was a way for them to factor their health as a percentage as opposed to a numeric value it would be no issue.
