You devs have overtuned this game. For years, I could log on Conan after working all day, pick any spot on the map, and just relax as I explored it and beat it. Now, I’m constantly stressing.
My partner and I lose four Snowhunters in Godbreaker armor at the volcano, or at the Cimmerian event in Sep, or some other random weird thing elsewhere in the game. The no lifers tell me to get guud, but screw them. I tell them to get casual.
For years the game played a certain way. Now it doesn’t. The combat changes are garbage. They’ve gotten steadily worse since December 2019. Thralls are now a burden rather than an asset. What’s the point in investing all the time to knock them out, gear them up, and level them if they’re just going to get stunlocked and die in any random purge or high level zone?
You say in your dev streams you want the players to be heroes. Well, when you eliminated hyperarmor, you made that impossible. It used to be I could take on a whole mob of NPCs, but now I just get two-shot killed by way too many types of mobs. The game is not balanced for the new combat. NPCs are packed too closely together, and players and thralls get too overwhelmed.
This game is not fun anymore. The combat is not fluid anymore. The thralls are not relevant anymore.
What weapon(s) are you using? I agree that taking thralls into a mob situation is suicide for the thrall. The event you referenced and Thag are great ways to free up your thrall count. But the weapons used in combat matter when taking on mobs. I found the katana to be a good weapon that you can do for mobs and boss alike and as luck has it, one of the only top legendary weapons that as a 100% spawn rate.
If you aren’t having fun because your thrall is dying, I suggest focusing your attributes toward authority since this seems to be where you define fun in the game.
I believe you.
Give a bit more information about it please.
What level Dalinsias were?
It seems the new meta on lvling thralls to require steadily progression. That’s why their first 10 lvls are coming so soon no matter what you kill most of the times . So taking low level thralls to “difficult” situations can be fatal for them.
Imagine if npcs had hyperarmor too how more difficult this would be.
Go to unnamed city to the boss with the multiple skeletons guarding in two lines. All the fighter skeletons are using swords. They can stagger literally everything. If it wasn’t Darfari swords but iron ones unnamed city would be fierce. I believe that if devs wanted to crash each player, on purges they would send npcs with swords, it would be devastating.
I believe the new meta is spend time on thralls!
Until the next update .
Someday (possibly Age of War Chapter 4, since Den said they only had 5% of Age of War content to finish, which should leave them with extra time to complete other projects) we will get Down But Not Out. DBNO was originally promised for Age of Sorcery Chapter 2, but seems to have been repeatedly pushed back. Anyway, once we have DBNO, you will have a chance to save your followers if they get unexpectedly creamed.
They’re always level 20, and I use the potions of rebirth or reset their perks to max out their HP as much as I can. The thing I hate is my time being wasted. The amount of effort to level up and gear up thralls is no longer rewarded in the game, so what’s the point?
Thralls are the one thing Conan has that is different from all other survival games. Why have such a rich and interesting feature if you’re just going to obviate it with the combat mechanics? It’s aggravating.
We usually have a good mix of weapons on our thralls when we go out: two Momentums, one Festering One, and an Annihilator to help end close fights quickly. Then I usually have a Forgelight, Heartsblood, and Musashi’s Black Blade. My partner likes Glimmermoon and Zathite Spear.
Yeah, but that’s not really something you can share with other people, is it?
You can relax in survival games when you have configured the game the way you need.
If someone agrees to such settings, you can relax together in a cooperative game.
Omg!!!
Thanks for sharing m8. I really appreciate your feedback. It’s really important people from official servers sharing the “bad quality” of their gaming time. Don’t get me wrong, i am not asking nerfs to equalize official gaming, i ask for better performance on official servers. If you and your teammate had better performance, you would control your fights easier and your thralls wouldn’t have this fate.
It’s not enough that WE are beasts now, we need performance too.
Thanks for sharing once again fellow exile @Befallen.
Co-op’s tethering, spawn points reseting when leaving area, etc is a different experience. Plus you’re not going to see anything new, won’t meet other players and so on. I can understand why he feels that way. Funcom needs to revamp thralls. They are in a bad place right now…
Having a good team mate is irreplaceable. Try playing with @stelagel once, @Teng .
You can love single player as much as I do (spent months only on sp mode), but you’ll see what I mean.
Yeah, it’s frustrating when your followers just stand there while the Arena Champion beats them down in three swings. There’s nothing you can do about it, either. Mashing E to attack is fruitless when server lag builds up the way it does.
The folks on my server have started calling out when we do purges or attack the castle at al-Marayah so everyone knows when there’s going to be a lag spike.
Yes. But the AC is an exception, @Befallen . We would need a much better AI for thralls to beat her without being tottaly OP. It can’t be done by raising stats. You better forget that one. That is a target for players. The thrall stays back. Use a shield. When you stagger her, strike and project her. Regain stamina. Rinse and repeat. I need to see how she fights with the new combat changes, but this method is fool proof.
That’s not the issue. When my thralls attack, I can get in there and finish her off. The problem is the server lag makes the thralls do nothing. So if I mess up or run out of stamina or the AC switches targets for whatever reason and my thralls just stand there, they’re toast.
You don’t need to tell me mate. I am very well aware of the problem you described. It sucks. But always leave your thrall at the door, far from the fight and on attack nothing, just to make sure. If you die, the thrall won’t engage when you get near the area and neither will the AC.
People ask me why I play CE so much and its because I can relax while playing it or have stress. When I want to relax, I farm, build my base (or a new one), decorate, level thralls on apes… when I am feeling vigorous, I go knock out thralls, run dungies, farm legendaries, etc. The game has both options at any given time. If the camps and dungies were also relaxing, the game would be a bit dull. Its a balancing act to get the challenge right.
