Like the title says. IMHO, eating should only make your health go up… not down.

It looks like going down but it actually provides you with a temporary hp buff. Check your max hp before and after. It has been like this for quite some time.

If it looks like a bug, it is a bug. No user is going to compare actual HP numeric values. It appears that you ‘lose HP’ since the bar drops. Leave it this way and you are going to see this bug reported again and again on production.

It’s not a bug, as Narelle said. Your maximum HP has increased due to a buff. The max HP is a fixed width on your screen. Sure, it comes up from time to time, but usually, people accept the explanation and be thankful for the buff.

I agree, it’s not a bug. But @Jimoacha has a point. Back before the healing changes, you would get the same buff, but your health bar would fill the gap quickly, because food triggered a regeneration buff.
Now, the additional health buff is not communicated properly anymore and it looks like a debuff instead. Those of us who have been playing for a while and know the ins and outs of the game, we understand what’s going on. But a newcomer will see the drop in the health bar and either report it as a bug or complain about it otherwise.
Since the nature of healing changed, it would be much better to tweak the GUI to properly communicate what’s going on.
TL;DR: Even though it’s not the bug that was originally reported, it should be considered a bug in the GUI.
The same happens when you add points to the vitality stat.
Since time immemorial people have reported that as a bug. Must be the most reported bug of the game actually. And it’s working as intended.
