Never had issue opening the feeder, so i don’t know.
Do you use some mods that may acte strangely ?
I must admit that i don’t use it much right now that feeding is no more needed. I give my pets mostly food in inventory, this only before fights, or when i take some with me outside.
But still, it’s working like intended for me.
Thanks for making me aware of your experience, but mine differ in all locations I place feeders. At one base I keep 20+ pets, three feeders. Two for them and one for me (poor man’s freezer ) No mods have touched the local computer server ever, due to the synch lag between release of patch and mod update, which is totally understandable.
If no one else has this issue, it is certainly something I can live with and would not want precious Funcom resources applied to it.
i mean, it’s still all under construction with me.
And yes, i feed them all by hand, i may be a control freak.
But like said, i give them now just for fight, when needed. They don’t need eat anymore all the time.
But may i suggest to try a feeder away from any base. One alone. Maybe the range overlaping is interacting, just a though.
After many frustrating attempts trying to open feed boxes and not understanding why it would sometimes and others I could not open it … I figured out why… I can only ever open it when my cursor is focussed on the wooden edge of the feed box. If it’s pointed towards inside the box then I can not open it at all.
Intended or not I don’t know. It’s a different mechanism for interacting than the similar shapes compost bin and the similarly coded thrall pot… both of which can be accessed when the cursor is over any area of them.
I can not fathom any reasonable cause for making that type of change. It serves no purpose. @Kwalya.
If this is a relatively low occurrence, I can understand allocating resources elsewhere, but to me it is annoying. Having to approach the feed box at a low angle improves the vertical ‘size of the hitbox’, but still …
On my end, it only happens a few sessions after I place the box, and some do not exhibit the limitation at all. The center mass is interactable. I see no common denominator.
Anyone else out there frustrated about this?
Regards, and thank you for verifying my experience.
Ok, so went in one of my games, and tested again the feeders.
Set out a first one like i do usually near the pens. Worked like intented without any clicking issue.
Then i placed sandstone foundations, walls, like on you picture, and set up a second one, pushed it very hard in the corner.
Can do that, no problems, but like said, i had never ever troubles with these feeders.
And i have still lot pets, and had them also to feed them all in the past, so used also lot of them.
For me there are same than the compost box, same mesh, same function, same clicks.
Put it’s a current game, so they’re fine, just i’ll remove the one in the middle without purpose with useless walls around.
Edit: just as trial, did you reset your commands once to default, sometimes this may help with click troubles and such.
I think (?) all my ingame commands are default. I use a G-series Logitech keyboard and map the 18 keys to the appropriate defaults. I have also tried the keyboard “E”.
Unfortunately, Logitech did not find enough profit in the 18-key models and discontinued all, the same as I am discontinuing Logitech
@Kwalya, I wonder if we have anything in common that may affect this?
I think nothing to do with the keyboard you use, it’s just some kind of magic to hit the reset to default button that may correct some coder errors. I know it worket for some, ever if the same keys are still set.
I think worth a trial.
I want to validate files through Steam, then will restart, but no help in-game.
I did notice something else. If I press and hold “E”, the radial comes up. To me, this indicates I should be able to singleclick, since the box is ‘targeted’.
No joy, but thank you for the suggestion. One file failed to validate, but that was expected since I modify a .ini to go to the main menu without waiting for the movies to complete. 5 second load times are nice.
It’s not game-shattering and I have learned to live with it, so reloading the entire game is just not worth it.
Perhaps if @Ignasi runs into any more of these reports, it would gain a low level Trello entry.
Yes, it was worth the trial, but keys can be tricky, and all may depend config and much more.
I saw really strange things over time.
Pets don’t need food anymore all the time, it’s more a bonus they get if.
Tried figure out also if different food give more or less boost, or longer, but i doubt. Still hoping, we never know.
All true, @Vattende, but the hyenas, when out of food , make the most horrendous whine. They really get your attention, which I think is intentional and a good touch.
While interesting, I still experience the inability to open the feeder from inside the box after a few sessions, requiring a specific angle to interact with the sideboards.
My hyenas don’t make noise if out of food, but yes, i had this when they disabled food with an older DB.
Need some investigation here.
But like you can see in some patch-notes, feeding needs was removed, pets don’t need any food to survive. But i wiped also still, and not running old DB since well before. Must digg out some oldies.
Also saw some oddities when on a server feeding was turned off a moment, then turned on again.
