Ive been playing this game on and off ever since I nabbed it off the ps plus monthly line up in 2019, and despite its glaring issues its still very fun to play but over time I kept noticing a deterioration of the games performance and graphics every time i got back into the game.
When i initially got it in 2019 it ran at a serviceable framerate and looked much better, now in 2024 the game runs at a choppy ~40 frames constantly in performance mode on a PS5, even when there arent any structures and minimal enemies, when the area is bisy with building/entities the FPS is way worse than 40. (this is on singleplayer, online servers are even worse). Ive turned off journey steps and weapon trails to help with FPS and it does help a little bit, but that shouldnt even be a thing to begin with. How does a small HUD in the top right of the screen tank performance?
One thing i noticed immediately getting back into the game is the graphics, theres no longer any grass, its all just a flat green texture that looks horrible. Its occasionally broken up by harvestable bushes but thats it, i definitely remember actual grass when i played on the PS4, this change makes the Siptah map look terrible because everywhere looks the same. Just a massive flat green field.
The render distance is another pain point for me, there are entire thrall camps that are completely invisible until you get within 50 steps from it.
I love this game and ill probably keep playing it regardless of an upgrade but I, and everyone else on console would GREATLY appreciate it. I just created this forum account to make this post, i wanna see this game in the best state it can be because i love it but the faults do wear on you over time. Id dump so many more hours into the game if it ran at a stable 60fps.
