What I find interesting is not only do you see the same complaints from the same people. But also the ‘new’ forum posters are nearly copy and pasting the same stuff.
Its pretty well known that there is a handful of people who have run afoul of FC before (gotten actioned in game and in the forums) to make multiple accounts. And the major game breaking stuff that will ‘chase away new players’ are issues only veteran players would notice.
UI changes a new player wouldn’t even be bothered by. That would be their normal. Thrall nerfs, they wouldn’t know what a strong thrall is and would adjust their play around that (kinda like how we did in 2017). Splitting stacks, they may notice this one, but only because Enshrouded fixed theirs. To my knowledge, that’s normal in Valheim (or it was last I played it). So that isn’t a given.
If Funcom wanted to focus on Dune instead of Conan Exiles… well they do, but not to the point of killing CE. But let’s just say they wanted to stop supporting CE. Then they would sunset development. They wouldn’t play these games updating and making features. That costs money and manpower to do. Businesses don’t play stupid ego games. They don’t have egos. They are objects. About the closest thing they have to a person and a consciousness is they pay taxes. So if they had no intention of supporting CE you would see two things happen:
- Nothing.
And I do mean nothing. No more announcements, no updates, no content in the shops, and FLS wouldn’t work either. Whatever the state of the game is without that is what it would be from that point onward. Their servers would still be up, for a bit. They wouldn’t be restarted, Zendesk wouldn’t be useable, and they would go until they are unplayable (about 2-3 days). Then they would shutdown as G-portal uses that hardware for something else.
- Something
You’d get an announcement thanking you for playing, but the game won’t be supported anymore. They might push an update so we can play without all the extra frills and whistles. But that’s it, similar to ‘nothing’ above.
That’s what dead Conan Exiles looks like. I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
What I do see happening is they may cease active development, but still offer seasonal Battlepasses. They would come at their normal schedule, but no major update to promote them. As well as some bazaar items. That would be a Conan Exiles that has ‘completed’ development, but they still wish to keep it going for sales and such. This is far more likely to be where CE goes. Probably not any time soon though.
