Is it me, or is the game easier?

I was really excited about the game becoming more challenging & less full of damage sponges, but it seems like I’m killin most of the mobs with 1 combo. From everything I’ve fought it seems the same or easier. The only difference I’ve seen is the poison seems to be back to massive damage & stacks. (which is the last thing I thought needed to be buffed)

I feel like one of the main things they need to do to add challenge is give enemies (especially bosses) abilities & mechanics & phases.

Where do yall think they added challenge? (other than early-game)

Errr… maybe massive purges on chapter 2? Because I sure don’t see it anywhere else after you get your first legendary weapon, @DarksunG
They should have MASSIVELY increased aggro range if they give us these fabulous weapons, not shortening it.

hmm… I’m not even using a Legendary & I’m still destroying things. And I have player damage taken set to 1.2 & NPC damage taken multiplier as 0.7.

I don’t want to just set everything to 1-shot-kill or a million hp.

For truth.

Things are really easy right now. Dennis said this patch cycle would be the easiest that Conan Exiles has ever been. Hopefully they sort that out in Chapter 2, this is a really weird interim period and not an approach I really agree with.

There’s just too many promises being made and I fear Chapter 2 won’t deliver on all of them, despite really needing to. This is why some of the minor stuff that can be adjusted in the mean time should be adjusted in hotfixes. Get the easy stuff out of the way now so its not forgotten later.

Regular mobs were never difficult. Combat feel cinematic, riding horse and one-shoting enemies is fun.

Real problem is the broken AI, Funcom need to improve AI and give us fatality finishers like in AoC.

I agree it is too easy.

From combat, purchasing thralls and materials, to even taming pets, horses and thralls.

Coming from a PVP perspective on Officials, most are x4 gather and XP rates on top of it.

I have a fully fortified T4 base with boxes full of mats, thralls and even a priest in less than 48 hours… never been this easy and I WANT the strife and aspect of survival.

Red Mother with Accursed Berserker

So easy

The whole game become boring to play.
10 wolfs attacks, they each have only 200hp. They bite hard, but with one swing 7 killed.
Anyone liking new stamina, might be only temporary joy.
Sure it feels great to be able to run out of fight, when farming, or constantly roll, that enemy cant hit you.
I think it will become boring, after a while, when player realize there is no danger

I’ve noticed that it seems ridiculously easy to knock out thralls now. Even named thralls go down in a couple hits. And then they seem to take about 5 minutes to cook in the wheel. I’m not sure if this is a bug or intentional – but I’m hoping it goes back to being a challenge to knock out a T4 thrall.

Accursed Berserker takes 29 minutes in a Greater wheel with T4 taskmaster now. I timed it.

Its not much of a difference without taskmaster

For me (agility built, voidforge gladius, armor just what i find with just taking a new one when damaged, no thrall) the bosses are much easier. like on siptah the 5 skelettons together before judge are more tough than he is.

But for example the dungeon Refuge of the goblinoids feels more difficult than before, they make more damage and you aggro a bunch of them quite often.

The “normal” fights feels more fun than before, when not getting attantion you get killed realy fast.

I thought things were supposed to be harder but instead I agree with you in that it seems easier to wipe mobs now. Thanks for confirming what I was seeing as well.

Really agree that I don’t mind enemies having less HP, but increasing their damage does not increase the challenge or difficulty since the AI and their movesets are so bad that they never hit you…
I’m all for short intense battles, but short easy battles due to enemies being dumb, and dodging every second being available, un-punishing, extremely forgiving, makes every PvE battle ridiculously easy…

Winged Death, despite not being difficult, used to be annoying with its constant basic attack move.
Now, get a war-axe, get rolling thrust, heavy attack + dodge instantly, all day, for free…
Not really fun or challenging XD

I agree with you. This game can now be played by 10 y.o. kids. It’s amazing, because after reading the developers’ notes I expected a lot of troubles (less stamina, higher recovery time, less powerful thralls).
I have been playing for years and with my two lev 60 characters on 1041 and 6009 everything is a walk in the park. So I decided to give the game’s new combat mechanics a try, starting from scratch on 1035, where I reached level 20 yesterday. The only hard times I had were when I was wandering around with coarse armor and stone weapons. As soon as I crafted a slave-forged ceremonial (+10 health) and my usual set of weapons (short sword + shield) I became invincible.
Basically, there were situations I was very cautions when facing single-handedly, even with my lev 60 characters, but now???
I am sorry to say, but the changes to the balancing are an epic fail. I appreciate all the rest that came with Age of War - including the idea of forcing replayability tampering with the durability of legendary weapons - but as far as the combat is concerned, I would like the game to go back to the previous balancing.

This one hates to say a game is too easy…

But even with the disrupted cadence (new stamina system) and property person stat blender…

This one has found most of the bosses and dungeons easier. Not just quicker. There have been a few moments when the enemy did put this one within a single hit of biting it, but it was easy enough to roll away.

In this one’s opinion, the current set up is good for the easiest mode of the game. The learning to play mode.

Now, with the changes to the combat system, that may be a deliberate kindness, a measured decision to give the player base, perhaps accustomed to something different, a gentle introduction to the changes.

Or perhaps they are hoping over the next three months, everyone gets soft and stupid so the revamped purge ROFL stomps them.
Nothing like easy living to nurture weakness.

I started from scratch on a new single player world when age of war dropped and I have to say: I’m having a really fun but challenging time. From being one shot by tier III pirates to losing rescued thrall bearers to a single crocodile, the game feels much more challenging than before.

That said, my experience on my level 60 character is pretty much what everyone else says. A little too easy.

What’s the balance then? How does Funcom keep the challenge in the higher levels without completely destroying the lower levels?

Because I disagree that every enemy should be challenging when you’ve geared up and out leveled them, but I do want a worthwhile challenge at endgame that doesn’t feel like a damage sponge.

Don’t use a thrall then.

Still easy (obviously, with the infinite rolls everywhere :upside_down_face:), but I assume the point of the video is to show how the Red Mother’s HP just melts?

I’ve been using the feroxic axe for a while and it feels nerfed pretty bad against certain enemies. Kinda sad really. I use to do pretty good damage, now some of the bosses I take off barely any health. It’s as though armor on npcs got increased and my zero penetration really does nothing. Meanwhile, I switch to a starmetal axe and do more damage… which wouldn’t make sense if it has to do with penetration. :thinking:So… idk? Easier probably depends on the equipment you’re using?
