Is it really worth doing purges?

I have level 10 purges on farm status, but find the rewards not worth the expenditure of the 1500 obsidian arrows the 18 archers expend, nor the occasional loss of a level 20 re-perked darfari thrall. What am I risking it for? 1 legendary item and a few star metal/comp. obsidian? The thralls that come out of the cages are a joke. Berserkers, Dalinsias, t4 bearers, or t4 dancers…? So when you replace all your dancers with t4 dancers you delete every single thrall from every single purge from then on? The reward system is a bunch of trash items for all of your effort. Why aren’t you giving people multiple legendries for defeating the highest level purges? Why should I take durability loss on my current legendries for materials I can farm and thralls I don’t want? It’s easier to run warmakers and open 2 legendary chests per run, or farm up 5 keys and get all 7 legendary chests from it in a single run.

But lastly, and by far the most important question, why are only 2nd rate fighter thralls available? Why aren’t the old purge thralls available from the cages? Why do you want everyone to use only darfaris? Because I have a sneaking suspicion every single other kind of thrall would get owned by level 10 purges. I’m pretty sure if I didn’t have all (+33 minimum) vitality re-perked level 20 brutes in best in slot strength sets all with momentum, and (+10 minimum) str re-perked level 20 brutes in best in slot strength sets all with legendary str bows and obsidian arrows, I wouldn’t be able to defeat level 10 purges without massive collateral damage.

Sure would be cool to have any other thrall besides a brute/thugra/ritualist… you know… like filetooth, or one of the other 3 worthwhile purge thralls we used to have a chance at getting with the old system.

I’m done running your purges until you make it worth spending 1500 obsidian arrows per purge.

I’d say its definitely not worth doing level 10 raids. Level 8 seems to reap the same rewards with fewer resources spent on defense. I like doing raids because on a 800 hr. PvE server we’ve (clan) done everything 20 times over already. If chapter 3 is what its supposed to be then maybe it will bring some kind of real consequence and rewards. I’m just hoping they can throw something at us that can give us a challenge worth wanting to tackle and not break the game in the process. So to answer the question more succinctly, I would say they’re not worth it if you’re only interested in loot, but they’re totally worth it for the fun.

not worth it any lvl, just for FUN (aka tower defence mini game)
personally i dont think this is a Purge frankly, more like raid system
purge means tribes and monsters coming after your base (literally trying to evict you from their area of interest)
sad old purge is gone, it was bugged but at least give purpose to the bases and army of thralls (pets)
as far as i know most of main player bases cant be purged now -because they are too hard for them to raid…

Well in that sense it’s still essentially the same. You still need an army of thralls and defenses to fend off the purge. It just needs tweaking so they spawn more reliably.

I pretty sure a big part of the problem is simply that their focus has shifted from general destruction to raiding a specific objective within your base. It’s caused some pathing issues I suspect. Not to mention they now need a big open spot to build their own encampment.

I miss the old purges.
There was consequences for progress.

No, not worth it

There are, occasionally, Purge combatants in the cages, very rarely
This one has gotten both Ambusher Tyra and Cormag Beastblood.

However, they really aren’t that impressive.
Certainly not compared to easily farmable alternatives.

Once you have all the recipes, there is no weighty reason to touch the purge unless you want to play tower defense.

The old purges were extremely inconvenient for those of us NOT retired or on disability, man… especially when my time zone didn’t even coincide appropriately with the purge time (pacific time zone on an eastern server… purges started at 3 pm). This new purge makes it nicer for those of us who don’t have the time to grind or aren’t available during purge hours.

Just to add, … or for those who are not into building defensively but small and cosy instead.

I miss it like tooth pain xD
What I miss even more is our rights… to repair.

This is the problem with new purge.

It’s supposed to be a wave that eradicates bases across the map, instead they made a farming-tower defense mini game out of it.

Make the purge great again and it will be fun + solve the problem with huge bases slowing down servers

Nope it’s not worth it. You can stockpile treasure all day without it and what do you get that’s really unique from the purge?

Bringing back the old purge is NOT going fix that problem. The only ones that got their entire bases wiped were newbies. Veteran players can navigate the old purge fairly easily and, with enough thralls, solo it. Right, @Coyote0903 ?

10’s aren’t worth the headache. I run at 8 and I’ve got the thralls “that only drop at 10.”

I ran about 6 yesterday, I got 3 Cormags, one Sonja, and a Berserker or two. All dancers and bearers get deleted.

I run my own server for 3 years and I have never seen old purge wipe a newbies base.
You could literally wait at the window waiting for wave 1 to expire and purge to go away. In most locations wave 1 were some trash mobs unable to even make a hole in your wall. We always have had purge level set to max and server set to barbaric.

Yes when a newbie went too far north and attempted to kill wave 1 and wave 2 then there was a chance of something more serious spawning and doing a lot of damage.

But again we have community who considers Conan to be a survival & PvP game, and then we have people who expect this game to be Sims: Conan, and then there are people who don’t play either PvE and PvP but have some mod allowing them to create house sized breasts and palm tree sized d!cks and attach fairy wings on top of that. It’s hard to make everyone happy, hece it’s the admins who should decide.

New purge is OK, but bring back the actions counter, and give them trebuchets and make them make a hole in the wall if there is no door detected

I’ve played on official for over 4 years and I’ve seen a few cases of entire bases being wiped, especially with further northern bases, but not exclusively. It happens when newbies don’t know what to expect.

Key word is Official. Where players are gimped from the start.

It’s also the way the game is meant to be played. Why is that a bad thing? You mean you can only effectively do the purge as a low level if you’re boosted? That doesn’t speak well for the old purge system. :unamused:

Here’s the issue . With how dead official servers are and the time it took to level everything and build the purges destroyed it all. Plus certain players added to the issue with massive bases and foundation stacking causing lag. Thats why it’s a good thing purges are no longer forced. It’s also why players prefer private servers because FC can’t properly admin their own servers so they function without issue. It has little to do with boosting but FC being unable to balance the settings and admin the servers. FC themselves always use god mode so they have no clue.

You haven’t played on official for some time I assume. My server is often 20+ players in the evening prime times. I haven’t seen private servers get like that ever… on PlayStation anyway. Your pov must be from PC. If that’s the case, you’re very close minded about them.

I agree, the rewards are pretty lackluster outside the occasional new or sought after thrall. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoy them now since I can control them. I just hope they take the feedback in into consideration that we want thralls to be dropped in our inventory (along with crafters) AND for the purge to be clan locked. I’m tired of seeing these other players stealing the rewards on PvE where nothing can be done about it.
