Is Lone fisherman a cook after all?

This conversation started from the bug report that our dearest master exile @Hansel started on pc bug reports. I call Hansel master for the fact that this player has more than 10k hours in this game so the title is proper i guess.
Yet my fellow exile @Boulderkin asked the most important question in this bug report, why would someone bother to lvlup an Artisan?
This of course triggered the interest of some fellow exiles for a healthy conversation and exchange of opinions.
I live in here for this kind of conversations and i love to educate my self from other opinions and play styles. It’s giving me reasons to play the game i love and learn new things that was under my nose all this time but i failed to look closer until this very moment that someone else opened my eyes.
So let’s create this conversation in here and stop ruining a proper bug report. Although i believe that the digging will provide informations if this is actually a bug, or why this particular cook may be out of some similar equation.
So.
Is Lone fisherman a cook after all?
I started spawning Cook_4 on my admin panel but he didn’t show up.
Then Lone gave me a Siptah beast.
But fish gave me what i was looking for…

So our friend Lone fisherman is not a Cook but a Relic hunter boss fisherman that knows how to cook too.
But does he knows how to fight?
It will be really sad that a Relic hunter boss can’t fight.
Why growth chance 0%
Will this affect the progression of this particular npc?
Does the growth chance works as intented?
Does food buff works?
Too many and more questions to this new mystery that hounds the exile lands and forum right now is about to be solved… Or not .
What we must keep in the end is the joy of playing the game we love.
Without further conversation let’s jump to reveal the mystery.
A male and a female will fight by my side. The one will get strength weapon with exotic feast and the other will get an agility weapon and enchanted gruel. As you will see in the photos the food buff is working on them..

Their armor is neutral, dragon bone from miss Lior with bulked plating. Of course the agility one will lack of strength armor buff or the non breakable heavy mace combo, so i expect the lady to be more effective.
My build and gear is this…

I may play light and with low vitality and grit, but i have a double meat shield with me so i believe i’ll be more than fine.
I cannot carry a lot i know and for this reason camels exist.
My buffs will go both on agilty, i want to blow fatal hits with rolling thrust and Musashi not allowing long fights and risk for my thralls.
I will start from unnamed city, with this formation…

Let the games begin…

So what 0% means?
What 1352 vitality can bare? So far… 0% meant nothing and 1352 was more than enough to endure.

As you see in the most scary fights my companions lost no hp even low lvl like it matters in the
the end…
Next stop Klaels stronghold… Let’s fight Arena champion

What was coming couldn’t be imagined even by the wildest mind…
I make the change since these fellows are like the very starting thralls we met in this game. Nor strength or agility is helping them. What’s helping them is their gear and food only. Their hp maybe low, yes, but they heal up so freaking fast that makes the dmg they gain insignificant.
So i gave to my male Lone fisherman exactly the same weapon and food…

All the bosses included Arena champion fell like a sandtower. But to be honest she was fully staggered. Wine cellar… The same!
I stopped to continue on black keep and i did the event too…

The best part with these thralls is that the food they consume to stay alive is hilarious.
Next stop volcano. Will they endure the pressure of these npcs? Only time will tell.

This is GREAT INFORMATION

I too like to play with thralls but the ones I enjoy are the bearers.

The large carry slots and

Packrat has the best health

But there are 3 REALLY GOOD BEARER RACES

THANK YOU stelagel

Keep the information flowing

Happy anniversary on the forum brother.

I don’t know if it’s great but i enjoy running around with these fellows a lot, i really did, truly.
In volcano the npcs hit really hard and if you’re not fast then they may die, but they did really well i must say.
The jhil cave was walk in the park as expected.
Rotbranch managed to scare me a bit but it ended nicely.
Frost giants met the Lone fisherman giants.
Kurak cave with decent difficulty, but not for my followers. You know i chose mobility and fatal hits, so light armor, half grit and half vitality can bring you in difficult situation against golem hits or zombie hoard.
Ofcurce they both died as expected on the mother of battles, rockslide. I continued the fight and killed him but he managed to crash my female Lone fisherman and send her to the steel born god.

I send the battle of Rotbranch to @Kazalakis, if he manage to do it a video you will understand my difficult situation while fighting this beast. From all the battles this was the only one that i really worried for their low hp.

And now i am speaking directly to @den.
Maybe now i understand the Lone fisherman example.
If these thralls are the examples of how thralls should become, i agree.
Just give them a pinch more hp, 1350 is quite low and new players will really find hard time keeping their thralls alive. The fact that they heal so fast is a blast. I run over the map with actual good companions, without stress and it’s really important.
If it’s a bug let me remind you that creepers on Minecraft were bugs and they became the most beloved hated enemy in this game of all times.
You still manage to surprise me m8, after all this time.
Thank you! Send my love to the team.

A beautiful Sunday it was!

Apologies for my last post.

1- It was inappropriate
2-It was utterly unnecessary… barbed, even
3-It added nothing to the relevance of the post, and tarnished the useful and dedicated work of folk
4-It was off topic

And we come to 5, the most important reason of all. Today, this post smacked me in the face and loudly stated a painful truth: Stop posting, just stop already, simply report bugs and shush, your brain is filled with too many meds; you are in no condition to be interacting with other people.

My apologies, Stel, and to all the folk who had to endure that mess, and all the subsequent edits; but it was in the last edit that it snapped. Yes, some things are so painful to accept that do take too long to become clear. Sorry Stel, I really thought the lid of this Blender was tight enough… clearly, it is not. This is no excuse, mind you, this is an explanation of why it happened, not in ANY way to elicit any pity, and certainly not an excuse for a clear, sincere, simple apology.

This one can, to mild horror/amusement, confirm.

Many enemies would beat upon these (not so) Lone Fisher folk to basicly no effect.
Their health meters refused to move by more than a hair. Thag, the Arena Champ… All hit like wet noodles against the mighty mariners.
Meanwhile, the lesser skeleton bosses in the Wine Cellar nearly ate them alive.

It was almost surreal.

To be certain, all enemies were hitting hard enough against the player or other npcs or the camel.

So bizarre.

True :joy:.

Please don’t, thank you.

I don’t understand. Do they have higher than expected damage mitigation? Or is this just a test of beating the game without decent thralls? Or what’s going on?

There seem to be more to considerate (or it is just a bug which hits not everyone). I came just across a fresh fisherman and gave it a try. I generally play with no authority, my 0%-fisherman got perfected heavy armour and some stacks of gruel, we made a quick run to the Arena Champion, Fisherman landed two hits, got two back and there was the first strike (as expected)… But: after that the fisherman seems to live up the hype for a while. During the final fight against the Champion of the Warmaker (and on the way to it) the health bar drops barely noticeable. I was not eager enough to give the Arena Champion a second try. I don’t know. Fishy.

Nope their dmg looked like the one old thralls would do, not the gods the eldest. They had everything zero so their outcome was what their weapon could do.

That’s what you fail to understand, they end up being very decent thralls.

We often count things from numbers.
How much hp, how good perks, how much strength, agility, hidden stats, etc…
Are they so important in the end?
Are they so necessary?

Isn’t fun of the gamer and balanced gaming experience the most important of all?

How do you separate end game from starting? From your stacked materials and weapons of course, the rest can be done so fast that’s there’s not a difference on “old” players.

So take these thralls, give them momentum, bulked dragon bone, exotic feast and enjoy their company.
They will lvl up, but they will always seem to be the same as they started.
So lvl 0 lvl 20 no difference, at least this is what i understood, don’t forget i play on console, i say what i see and i cannot see much. You can try on pc and let us know.

Edit.
I read again my post and i felt it’s a bit aggressive.
Please read it as please tone and not as demand tone.
And for whatever you fail to understand it’s on me keep on failing to explain correctly.
Thank for your understanding :sign_of_the_horns:.

Found a lone fisherman up, captured and placed him and he is as described. 0 in all stats and growth chance. Saw a couple people who also had this happen. Seems to be ubiquitous.

Now I’m tempted to test him. There was a bug once with a certain set of armor that that could make you invincible presumably because of the way it interacted with character stats. Equip it then remove it and your displayed armor class would go negative and then literally nothing but drowning could kill you.

Maybe the 0 stats/chance is somehow triggering that again.

I hesitate to mention this but at this point… I have a pre-nerf curved blade of the legion, aka a katana, that doesn’t use stamina when attacking. Or at least uses so little that it’s impossible to even get low, much less run out. So there are some strange bugs regarding stats out there.

Yesterday with exactly the same build i tested 2 exile tier 4 crafters. Their hp started about 605 or something like it, right now i am speaking out of memory while drinking my morning coffee, slow working brains .
Although it seemed suicide mission for these fellows, after a quick run on unnamed city they went 12 with fantastic perks, dead eye and something else , i went to warmakers and wine cellar. Again Arena champion was staggered so she didn’t touch them and Thag managed to scare me a bit while he drained 3/5 of their “huge” hp, something around 1600. They exit lvl 19 from these 3 so instead of going to all the other dungeons, i said what the heck let’s go to the mother of battles…

They won!!!

Rockslide managed to bring them on around 200 hp but they won, the beast has fallen before they touch lvl 20 and before they taste the sorcery piss that changes their perks to something decent looking.

Surely there’s something i understand wrong all this time but going through this experience i surely see things a bit different now

@Raeil please test m8, i really need your point of view although i have to mention that @LostBrythunian is always by my side in these quests explaining the oddities and giving reasons to anything surreal.
Playing with friends and having conversations about the game is not only educational but it’s real fun as well.

Eh. No promises but I’ll see how things go. I’m way low on gas for CE these days and a large 7 Days to Die patch with new content drops tomorrow. On top of being a bit time constrained atm. But we’ll see.

If you know how to cross play i am all in to start a new character in this one. I just wish pummel Pete hasn’t got nerfed .

This one thinks it has something to do with inherent damage reduction values for their survivability.

Another one of the hidden stats, but observable.
Simply put, with the same grit score, in the same armour, not all thralls take the same damage.

Also, many of these thralls do still take considerable damage from enemies that seem to have higher penetration and sunder seems to delete them quickly.
This is all cursory inspection tho
