Is Stealth Broken?

Game mode: Private Live | Singleplayer

A loading screen tip says crouching will help you sneak up on enemies, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
After testing, I see no change in aggro range from enemies whether I stealth or not.

Enemies spot me from far away when I stealth, even when they are facing away from me. Sometimes even from behind walls.

I’m on PC, single player, all default settings for normal mode except building decay is disabled.

Repro steps:

  1. Crouch.
  2. Try to sneak up on enemies.
  3. Enemies scream like maniacs and attack you.

That’s true. Can’t sneak up no kind of NPC. Even from behind they see me. I do not understand the point in sneaking in this game if it doesn’t work as intended.

I sneaked in on Skulkers End during night and completely wiped out that camp with only a few NPC’s attcking me. However I may have missed that the NPC’s were seeing me when they should not. PC SP PVP
