Take a look at the screenshot I posted.
Go to the admin cheat menu.
Klick on “Spawn Item”
Type “Marker” in the text field.
Choose “Building”.
Klick on the item “Marker”.
Leave the admin menu, open your character menu, drag the “marker” into your quick bar. Place it on the ground, where you want to place it. Place it. Klick on it to open menu.
From here, you are on your own. Sorry. Never used it myself and I would have to experiment the same as you.
Very helpful, thank you Talyna! I’ll start experimenting. Dunno what happened to my chat. I tried going over everything in Vanilla and resetting it to display (I had originally turned it off because only my wife and I play together and our rigs are right next to each other so we don’t need chat lol).
After I finally got it to display again, now I can’t access it! I’ll keep working on it, thanks for your help.
So it appears that Pippi provides a physical marker that you can place (similar to the Icarus device). But that requires actually physically visiting the location and placing down an object. What I had in mind was really just a simple way of me clicking a spot on my map, and my wife being able to see it on her map, so I can say, for example, “Let’s go to this spot”. Hard to believe there isn’t that functionality available somehow, if only through a mod. But I’ll keep searching, thanks all.
The gist here is the option to separate the given icons with fan content. (I’m thinking how else to just say content made by fans.) That makes the argument easier to get through on which markers are which.
I wonder if you guys can sell your map mod like on the bazaar.
Pipi is a fantastic mod and if you are going to use mods, this is the ONE mod that, in my opinion, you need.
Upade to modern administration tools.
You sound like the people who keep insisting on using laser discs.
I don’t use laser discs, or any other compressed optical media for that matter, but I am interested in knowing which modern administration tools you recommend I upgrade to.
So please, enlighten us then. Us, which still dwell in darkness and despair…
Well…
This post reflects my personal opinion and is not meant as hate!
Pippi was a great mod for a long time, no question, but the development of this mod stopped a long time ago and you can even crash the server with it if you’re not careful.
I also don’t like that there is no option to disable chat.
On the other hand, it’s pretty beginner friendly and the only reason for me to use it would be the TTools.
I myself use a sudo-based setup (Sudo Exile, Tot! Admin, Chat, Roleplay Redux and Thrall Wars Utilities) which is more for advanced users, but since there is an API, I can also add and customize things with my own mods.
Scripting in TWU is more difficult than in Pippi as the logic is more like a programming language (top to bottom).
It also depends on the type of server you are running.
If you are a beginner and just want to run a PvP/PVP server to play with friends, Pippi is probably the right mod.
If you’re running a roleplaying server, for example, with quests and such, I’d personally prefer a sudo setup.
Thanks!
This is a post a can work with.
But to say: “You doing things wrong! I do better!”, without giving an alternative is just… thin…
Yes, lol, I was a bit taken aback by the guy’s abrupt elitism, and the stark contrast with the otherwise uncharacteristically friendly tone of this forum compared to others. The toxicity level here has been happily pretty low. One of the reasons we chose to play here. We got such helpful answers to our early questions before buying. I’ve now purchased every DLC and will happily spend crom coins when I find something I want or like. But the Internet will always be the Internet lol.
They’re always alternatives.
All with Advantages, Disadvantages and personal Flavor.
So I tried to give an alternative, but also tried to explain there are differences.
I guess Sudo was also what @Nerazmus meant with modern administration tools.
