I was playing Siptah the other day. While riding my rhino, two elephants piled up on me and got me stuck, trampling me all the while. I decided to press the attack button, not expecting much to happen. To my surprise, it pushed both elephants away far enough to get me unstuck. Then I thought to myself: if I had been on my horse, we would’ve both died.
Point being, is there a reason why the game doesn’t yet have saddles for pets like the Greater Boar, Elk King (not that it’s tameable, but fawns only have 1 variant, IIRC), and similarly-sized animals? The Rhino’s attacking (and its knockback potential) really comes in handy for me, and makes mounted combat actually enjoyable. Not to mention that having a pet that’s able to attack (even if it’s only while I’m riding it) that also doubles as a mount is a boon for me, since I don’t particularly enjoy having blinking/teleporting pets/thralls following me. However, the Rhino is too slow and too large. It also gets stuck way too often. Having some smaller-ish mounts options with similar knockback potential, even if their damage is lower, would be great. Riding an Elk or Boar would be pretty cool, too…
Having a longer spear or something like that (like the Macedonian sarissa) for the rhino would also be nice, since the regular spear is a bit too short to consistently hit enemies. The lances in Conan Exiles, IIRC, are also based on jousting lances. Having an alternative wouldn’t hurt.
I apologize in advance if this has been brought up before and addressed.
Yep, that’s Rhino mounting advantage . Rhino is slower than the two other however.
Horses are fast, they jump over obstacles, and lance fighting is more appropriate for them, yet not only.
Camels are fast too, but they can’t jump over obstacles, yet they have 20 slots of inventory.
So each mount has benefits and it’s clearly on you how to use them best.
My wish for next mount (dream on, it will never happen Stelio), is dragons. And i do understand and respect that they do not fit in the lore, but that’s my dream.
Welcome to the forum once again exile, nice to have you around.
And I would like to see us mounting our thralls you just sit on his back and he has to carry you around. Both cool and hilarious. Or sedan chair for two thralls as an upgrade.
I’d pay Crom Coins for this kind of mounting options.
there is probably already plans for many different mounts, but its just probably more lucrative to “drip feed” the community all the things we beg for. Elephants as mounts have been a topic for a VERY long time, and then when they finally give it to us , like the camels, they can say “see we listened to you!, here’s the thing you asked for!, you’re welcome!”
This is a point that has been brought up a couple times.
There can be sharp divides within the community between those who want all the mounts and those who want a very narrow list of mount options.
On one side is a sort of argument against high fantasy whimsical things.
The other is of the anything goes variety.
With many opinions somewhere in the middle.
This one personally believes the realism ship sank long ago with rhino mounts and demon horses.
However, this one would prefer the options to remain somewhat grounded.
In that mounts could be divided between typical and exotic.
Exotic being creatures, such as Rhinos, that hypothetically are physically able to be mounts, but historically never were and are temperament adverse.
This one would prefer if exotic mounts had more developed perquisites to obtain.
Such that many would be locked behind either high levels of religion training, usually for Jhebbal Sag (who teaches the common language between men and beast), or Set (who deals in serpents), a scroll from the cultists of Sobek (because crocodiles), or high levels of Sorcery (for entirely unnatural mounts such as dragons or yakith) and would require perhaps very particular foods to raise them as mounts, eating hearts of heroes, powder of corruption, ect…
The problem with the rhino mount is that it can’t jump. The attack should be another key so that it can jump…it is too easy to get stuck on terrain without jump. The attack button for horses could include perhaps something such as forward mauling of the hooves or a kick of the hind legs.
Agree with you that more rideable creatures would be a good thing.
