Issues with Bosses spawning in Elder Vaults


Partner and I are playing co-op and we have just tried to do two elder vaults in the last couple of days that we went all the way through the vault to the final room and no bosses spawned for us to complete said vault.

These vaults were:

Harbor of the Drowned
Aslyum of the Outsiders

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Enter a vault
  2. Clear the vault
  3. No bosses spawn in final room.
  4. Last sigil does not “open” door to treasure room.

Anyone noticed this and if so how did you fix?



I have encountered this many times as well, single player/co-op with a friend. I tried going through and disabling mods one at a time and after removing one mod, a vault worked and had bosses and enemies the whole way through… once. With that same list of half disabled mods, the next time we tried an elder vault, it was half empty and had no boss again. So I really don’t know what’s going on if disabling a seemingly random mod fixes it, but only once. It’s illogical.
For what it’s worth the mod was Legacy of Darkness: Clothing and Accessories, but again after that one time it worked following it’s removal, the elder vaults went back to being empty of the final boss and I really don’t have the heart to keep going through the mods anymore, it’s honestly easier to just admin-mode my way around the final locked door.

When this happens I switch to admin > Ghost > Walk (exits Ghost mode) the mobs spawn in. It breaks immersion but at least it can be completed.


This keeps happening to me on solo play as well. Four vaults and zero bosses. I have a couple of mods, but none are enabled.

Was reported several times.

This issue occurs mainly because Vault bosses have patrol routine. Their trajectory is not very intelligent and they start wandering straight through floor/walls ending in unreachable places. This is very common on official servers as well.

This does not appear to be accurate, as the end room(s) does not appear to spawn correctly. If you have admin access, typing the command ghost and then waiting a few seconds will cause them to spawn. Then use the console command walk to reset to normal (and makemenormal of course).

I got stuck in Harbor of the Drowned with my beloved thrall and I couldn’t go back. DId that admin/ghost/walk thing and they spawned again.

First things first, this game IS fun! Thank you!

I too am experiencing partially populated vaults and am rarely able to complete a vault without having to walk out the entrance. I am not running any mods, just vanilla here. If me and my thrall exit and re-enter, some additional mobs will spawn but the boss doesn’t seem to be affected by this; to include multiple exit/re-entries. I’ve had better luck logging out in the closest room to the boss chamber that I last was able to kill something. Granted, you must re-enter and re-unite with your thrall prior to engaging the boss. This has not proven to function every time in every vault however.

Last night out of 3 separate vaults, I was able to successfully complete Refuge of the Goblinoids without incident. Cool gloves and helm learnable feat certainly helped make the journey feel worthwhile. I wish you Godspeed in locating and correcting this issue, I need more bosses to fight! :wink:
