Knocking out Bosses and Enemies

Game mode:
Single-player

Type of issue:
Bug

Hardware:
PS4 Slim

Bug Description:

My thralls are knocking out world bosses and enemies with the steel truncheon. “Knock out” may not be the proper wording, as after depleting the stamina bars, the enemies either move in place, or freeze completely, but they still make noises. You are then free to kill them, as they will no longer attack when their stamina bar is depleted. If you do not hit them after they are knocked out, their hit points will return very quickly, but they still do nothing. Their hit points stop coming back when you hit them with a weapon, but they still do not attack.
Now then, when they “freeze” and no longer attack, your thralls disengage combat, so it is like they register the enemy either as dead or unconscious.

I have tried with a world boss and normal enemies. My character can do it too, so I think the truncheons are the culprit. I have tried with several of the same type, steel truncheons with blunt fittings attached to them.

I do not think my thralls are bugged, I have tried Eina the Light and Sideh the Lithe and they both do this, although not at the same speed, probably depending on their strength. I think this must be a bug because when I had mentioned this to some of the members here, nobody had heard of being able to knock out bosses. One member even tried to do exactly what I did, and was unable to reproduce the issue. As well, my character can also knock out enemies using these truncheons.

I do have to mention, my thralls can quickly wipe out entire camps on their own with truncheons, but they are very bad at fighting with weapons. One member said his thralls act the complete opposite of mine. So maybe all my thralls are bugged?

Below are pictures of my thrall and I standing by bugged enemies, one showing a depleted stamina bar, and I also provide screen shots of my battle settings.

In my steps to reproduce, I will note the exact same situation in which this happened. (I have tried it several times)

Steps to Reproduce:

Craft a steel truncheon, and attach a blunt fitting to it. (unfortunately I cannot remember which variant of blunt fitting that it was)

Give the truncheon to either Eina the Light or Sideh the Lithe. (take away any weapon they have in their inventory) In behavior, make your thrall “guard me”.

Locate the scorpion boss near the Tower of Bats and attack it.

Let your thrall hit it with the truncheon until its stamina bar depletes.

Watch the boss get “knocked out”.

I have managed to fix this problem by reverting my server settings to default. My thralls and I can no longer knock out anything that is not a human.
But I cannot say what in my settings caused this. I do believe it to be worthy of investigation.

I am very happy you did your own workaround. Still I am not satisfied here. What I mean is that participating in private servers, admins wanted to create mini games out of the box. Believe me I met outstanding people, minds, that their imagination took this game to a whole another level giving me a great gaming experience and more reasons to love this game more and more. I don’t know if you experienced a glitch, a bug, an exploit etc… This option seems to be possible to this game and I would like to know if it is a setting that already exists, or, if it can be arranged by a setting from now on. I would even beg the modd community to think of it as a mod option. I can see arenas with mobs and truncheon fighters trying to win the contest. Totally out of the box, love it. @Fia is there a mod that already allows this?

Aye aye, I have seen someone on these forums who had created “turtle races”. I thought that was completely brilliant.

So if I may return on this issue, I am now almost positive that my problem here lies with my settings. When I posted in here saying I solved my problem, well I played the next day, but had seen that my settings did not save. The super truncheon issue was back again.

In order to properly save my settings, I had to change what I wanted in one section, exit out of the options, then back to the next one. Like for example, change what you want in combat, exit, go into survival, change stuff there, exit, go into day/night, change things there, exit…and so on. It really frustrated me as I spent my entire evening turning the game on and off so many times to see that things half saved, or did not save at all. Until I used the “in and out” method I have described.

Anyway, the truncheon issue is either caused by messing with friendly fire or… shortening the night, as strange as that may sound. But now I do not really feel like making more tests as I have my settings how I want them, with no more super truncheons.
