I’ve been playing Conan Exiles for over 7,000 hours and have seen just about everything this game has to offer. I’ve fought in countless raids, built mega bases, and watched servers rise and fall—but right now, the game is dying faster than I’ve ever seen, and it’s because of lag switch abuse and DDoS attacks.
This is happening across ALL PvP servers, not just a few. It’s a widespread issue that’s ruining the core experience of Conan Exiles for veteran players and newcomers alike.
What’s Happening:
• Players are using lag switches to freeze during combat, teleport around hits, and make themselves unhittable.
• Suspicious lag spikes and mass disconnects during raid windows strongly suggest DDoS attacks are being used to wipe bases with no resistance.
• Servers become unplayable during prime time because of extreme rubberbanding, delayed actions, and game crashes.
This is not just frustrating—it’s killing the game. Entire clans are quitting, and good servers are turning into ghost towns overnight.
What Funcom Can Do:
1. Implement a Max Ping Kick System
Automatically kick players who exceed 165–200ms for more than a few seconds. This would help remove lag switchers who intentionally spike their ping during PvP.
2. Detect Abnormal Ping Spikes
Add server-side tools to detect repeated ping jumps and packet loss that’s consistent with lag switch abuse. It’s a red flag when a player spikes to 900ms every time combat starts.
3. DDoS Protection / Rate Limiting
Introduce IP request rate-limiting to help prevent DDoS attacks. Even basic protection can go a long way toward keeping official servers stable.
4. Region-Based Server Restrictions
Some players connect from outside the intended region and abuse latency to gain an advantage. Having ping caps or regional matchmaking could help keep things fair.
5. Better Reporting Tools
Add an option to report players for suspicious connection manipulation or DDoS behavior, along with server-side logs to support investigations.
6. Community Moderators / Admin Monitoring
Give trusted players or server mods the ability to flag and submit direct reports of this kind of abuse. A human presence—even limited—can make a big difference.
Conclusion:
With 7,000 hours in Conan, I’ve stuck around through the good and bad—but this is the worst shape PvP has been in. The lag switchers and DDoSers are taking over, and it’s destroying the competitive balance. Funcom, please address this before more of your core PvP community walks away. This is urgent.
