The PC server I am on (1808) has MAJOR lag issues. Fighting is a joke because of the lag. Falling off an elevator or cliff because of lag does not make for a good game. Lag is present on other servers which implies this is a systemic problem.
I can’t imagine what the lag will be like once you release the pet system.
Fix the lag. Sooner than later. Stop prioritizing other bugs. This one will kill the game.
For me this has always been the number one issue. The servers are all virtual boxes and so the performance we’ll see i believe will always be bad unless they do some crazy coding but that would be just to time consuming if at all possible. I personally dont believe this will be fixed as the hardware is so bad for what is required.
I concur that this may stem from not having top spec servers on hand to run so many instances of the game. There are fixes coming as Jens stated in a recent newsletter, for optimizing the way building blocks get loaded, along with an AI overhaul as Tascha had recently revealed. PR has stated that they are working on small optimization fixes in the background and load testing Testlive, hence why it only gets restarted once a week.
Perhaps those items will help to some degree, but it’s not a cure for a sub-par server. I know they are working on the ‘lag’, so we’ll see what they can pull off with the cheap servers they’re using.
I lag whenever I point over doors, elevators, and any containers. (Xbox1) The preview of an objects contents before I select the object is a feature they added because I guess someone complained loud enough. Swallow your pride devs and please add a disable button in preferences or flat out disable the feature please!
Well just saw the run thru that Funcom did of the midnight grove. Gee they didn’t have any lag. Apparently they don’t have to use the crappy servers we all do. I was on a server t his morning, one of the deserted ones (yes people have deserted Conan…omg Funcomm didn’t you know). Well I was alone on the server. It has very few bases and guess what…LAG! The worst part is that on PVP servers combat is a joke with LAG…Looking for another game NOW.
I got the same problems with the preview lags. I fixed it with using an SSD instead an HDD
The game runs now much smoother for me.
