Land Claim Abuse on Official PVE: When “Rules” Become Walls (and Staff Tickets into the Void)

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this because I’ve reached a point where the “fun” in Conan Exiles is being buried under a mountain of invisible walls.

We all know the official rules regarding land claims on PVE servers. They are designed to allow fair play and prevent griefing. However, on our current server, these rules have been twisted into a tool for territorial hoarding.
https://forums.funcom.com/t/land-claim-abuse-on-official-servers/190158

The Situation: There is a rampant practice of “claim spamming,” where players place claim flags not to build, but to permanently block others from accessing viable building locations. It’s not about strategy; it’s about creating a “No Vacancy” sign over the entire map. For a visual example of this absurdity, check out this footage: Video Link: Land Claim Abuse Example

It has gotten to the point where finding a decent spot to build a simple house is nearly impossible unless you are part of the “early bird” clique or willing to engage in a war of attrition that PVE is supposed to prevent.

The Staff Response: I have submitted two separate tickets over the last 20 days regarding this specific issue.

At this point, I’m not sure if the support team is busy fighting the Thraex or if they’ve simply decided that “letting the map fill up with empty claims” is an official feature.

My Request: I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for the enforcement of the existing PVE rules that are already in place.

  1. Investigate the clusters of unused claims that are blocking public access.
  2. Enforce the “active building” or “time limit” rules on claims if they exist, or implement one if they don’t.
  3. Reply to tickets. Even a “we are looking into it” would be better than the silence we’ve endured for three weeks.

We love this game and the community, but a PVE server where you can’t build because someone “reserved” a 5x5 patch of dirt for five minutes of their life is a server that’s lost its way.

Let’s fix this before the only thing left to conquer is the silence of the support team.

Thanks for reading

Tolomeo

EDIT 2026/07/01
I am adding a second video to highlight a further situation of land claim abuse.

While the previous clip already documented two distinct violations, this new footage reveals an additional case that reinforces the pattern of behavior described in this thread. As you will see, this isn’t an isolated incident, but a recurring tactic that continues to block access and degrade the gameplay experience for everyone on the server.

Showing these multiple examples aims to demonstrate that the issue is systemic and requires immediate attention to prevent the rules from becoming mere obstacles.

I got unfairly banned permanently for spamming landclaim while I was playing another game, so I guess sometimes they take action against random structures like that around the map, but I’m not sure they actively look out for those… you have to do a proper report on helpdesk.

Private servers or single player/co-op are the only viable way to play this game. How could anyone not know that right now? The number of complaints that get posted daily about PVE and PVP issues on public servers is certifiably mind blowing. Couple that with corrupted character saves, servers just vanishing with no notice, server crashes and lag issues, cheaters/hackers/exploiters, and non-stop player abuse… and it’s not like it ever even occurred to me to attempt playing on a public server. Not even once.

Yet people still subject themselves to it… then are shocked by it enough to where they come make even more threads, despite the fact that they can plainly see that absolutely NOTHING was done about the previous threads, year after year, for nearly a decade.

Someone should do a study on this whole situation… seriously. It’s absolutely fascinating.

False. Every way to play this game has its pros and cons.

But you know that.

What I know, is that there is a new complaint thread about public server this or that, every single day. That is what I know.

Sure but that is because FC/Inflexion are the ones to provide feedback to for most of those problems.

Who are you going to complain to for admin abuse on a private or it shutting down suddenly, as examples?

I’m not going to complain at all, because I’m smart enough not to invest time in a public server with all the problems I listed above and that are complained about here non-stop daily.

I own my server. So I’m the complaints department, and I don’t have any customers. … because I’m smart enough to read the room and know based on the thousands of complaints that I will NEVER attempt to play this game other than on my own private server, or SP/co-op.

That’s half of life… solving problems before they even happen. Some people find life very hard… so they complain non-stop.

Smart people usually avoid spending time on problems they’ve already solved. Since you’ve chosen the private server route, we’re unsure why you’re still here criticizing official server players. Please, spare us the daily lectures.

Good for you, i have played on privates in the past, but stuck with one official server since launch and wouldn’t do it any other way.
The non-moderation on officials is a serious issue, but on the other hand, I would have never met so many people, playing on private, never had so many popcorn drama moments and for me that social interaction is part of what makes me come back to the game

I think you missed my point.

Anyway, no need to derail this post any further and disrespect OP.

When you let preference become prejudice, it’s a poor choice.
I play on my own private, vanilla, server for long term. I play on publics for week long tests of new rules and releases.

If folks want to spam build, they should be the ones on single player or private. Expecting stated rules to be followed is not an onerous ask.

On my server I have three rules.

  • Have fun
  • Build Well
  • Don’t be a dick

Since I admin my server, I enforce the “don’t be a dick rule” as needed. Expecting a company that has stated it will enforce their ruleset to enforce their ruleset is a reasonable ask.

Yelling at people because they expect a ruleset to be enforced tells a story, just not the one you believe you are telling.

I am impressed beyond human understanding.

And?

I’ve had a server in play for years now. Not everyone has the means to do so. I use the EZ Pass toll system to avoid traffic, because I have the means to do so. I do not ridicule those who can’t afford it.
This need of yours to demean and harass folks because they hold a different opinion should be studied.

It’s fascinating.

DAMN!

Well said.

But if he didn’t tell us how smart and accomplished he was, how would we know?

I want to draw everyone’s attention specifically to the EDIT dated 20260701 in the original post. This update is crucial because it shifts the narrative from a simple bug report or rules dispute to a clear demonstration of bad faith gameplay.

The details provided in that edit highlight a deliberate choice by specific players to exploit the land claim system not for survival or building, but to actively sabotage the experience for others. This isn’t just “playing the game”; it is a calculated display of selfishness where individual territorial hoarding takes precedence over the health of the server community.

When players ignore the spirit of the Official Server rules to lock down resources and building spots—forcing legitimate players into a corner while staff tickets vanish into the void—it proves that the issue isn’t just a lack of enforcement, but a willful intent to grief. This behavior transforms the “rules” into weapons for a few, validating the OP’s frustration that the system is being abused by those who simply do not care about the collective fun of the server.
