Doesn’t necessarily have to be a block count, could be simply a build area. If you want to make a Borg cube inside that area fine.
I figure the server I’m on is average for the game. There are a dozen or so mega builds, in my opinion beyond a reasonable land claim. The are 5 villages I don’t count in that because they are in an area and not a contiguous build; yet a ToC violation. There is at least one builder that has been on there 4 years and has added, upgraded, rebuilt, and vaulted loot continuously for that time. When a new building set is released they add another wing, or plaza.
Now it may sound like I’m singling this person out but I am using them as an example of what I’d expect to be common on most all PVE public servers. My opinion if this person got a time out 1/3 of the ToC violating builds on the server would decay. I’m mystified how they haven’t; oh don’t even, took me 32 screen caps to all of ONE base.
This is why I question how well the system works. If some moderator checked that build and thought it was ok, there is no such thing as a ToC violating build.
But as I said, I’m cynical this isn’t common on most all old PVE public servers. This one of the reasons it needs to be taken out of peoples judgement. Bob may like your roman Colosseum and plaza so let it go, Ralph on the other hand is a stickler of server foot prints. And hey, Bob may be having a really off day and is already worked up when they go to check your build. Or Ralph could be stoned say “that’s purdy” and blow it off.
I see build limits by count or better area as the solution everyone hates the least, so has to be the right one.
I can be guilty of building a large base (though it’s way off the beaten path and my only mega build), but I’m not a fan of people that do this. It shows no consistency and just clutters. I prefer a theme to my builds, so a new build set has no place in my main base unless it meshes well with the theme. I have the pyramid set and have yet to use it. As for when I use a new set, I usually swap out pieces from my existing build, or build a small outpost in an area I frequent. I have a really small desert themed outpost by the den that I’ve wanted to use the pyramid set on, but I need triangles and sloped walls for it. I don’t wanna make a pyramid. I hate seeing builds that have one building for each set. Just because you have a build set doesn’t mean you NEED to use it.
@DeaconElie
I challenge any player who does this type of massive construction and full of protections around the base to join any private server, they will be kicked out and banned on the same day.
I challenge any player who does this type of massive building to get their own private server, so they can make their own rules and build as much as they want.
the server would be completely broken, , people don’t understand that massive and abusive constructions harm gameplay, even if they had a private server they would see that the idea of having gigantic constructions would not be good.
In the game chat yesterday; I was reading while fairing my thralls around, the person with all the massive builds was gripping about how funcom can’t fix the supper buggy NPCs and thralls. The more stress on the server the buggier NPCs/thralls get, so basically the person causing the issue was complaining about the issue.
The NPCs and thralls may still misbehave on single player or a good private server, but they go all sorts of wonky on the built to lag public servers.
Take a game getting constant updates by a developer that just can’t leave well enough alone, add changes to the battle system and NPCs, toss that on over built, lawless public servers on a bargain basement host, and you’re not going to get much I in the A.
I know it’s a conspiracy theory, but is funcom tanking the public servers to brake their contract with Gportal? Is there some other reason funcom is treating the public servers like a tire with a slow leak? ignored till it’s flat.
This abomination made almost entirely of foundation blocks has been reported by players on a public server I play on but it still stands to this day. As it is, other players look at that and are then convinced that they can build just as massive with no risk of repercussion. This resulted in the server being populated with giant Amazon warehouses, most of which are empty. I’m starting to think that reports do nothing and that the public servers are, indeed, a lawless land where anything goes.
This construction is ridiculous, what is the function of this abomination? just disturbing other people’s games, I’ve already made some complaint reports to funcom and some were answered and others weren’t, it takes about 2 to 3 months to be resolved, did you report this construction? I doubt the player who did this uses 5% of this build
Had a friend reporting 3 bases on a server, see on one of my posts above. Took funcom less than 3 days to answer and admin wiped them all.
My friend was showing me the screenshots.
The reports made in December haven’t been handled because of holidays and too many piling up. Every report send back then came with reply in January “hope this fixed by itself” type of message.
Gotta realize they get tons of reports and they are understaffed.
Apparently all the suffering with this type of toxic player, this type is on all servers, funcom has to work on limitations of land to be claimed, this is putting an end to public servers.
it seems they stopped doing their jobs in Xbox 2200 PvP Official server there is clan called The Templars and they builded all over it there is even video on youtube how much they builded its over 30k atleast i believe they still didnt got ban even though they have been reported by many clans over 6 months just check it out www. youtube .com /watch?v=oUcf8RYqFzI&t=12s
You need to follow up every week or so and mention how it’s probably causing performance issues. I’m surprised you weren’t lagging out there. On PS I’d be screwed.
Im just curious because “Look at this build Im reporting it” really doesnt shed light onto peoples point of view or why they think its a violation. Hence why I asked, because you dont get banned for a building simply being big, it has to be in violation of the things listed above.
