So i started a new server and noticed that foundations have been spammed all over the main build areas of Exiled Lands. I built a nice little base in the jungle and woke up today surrounded by foundations so i can’t build anymore. This is clearly against the rules Funcom has set themselves but reporting is useless since they are flooded with reports and can’t act upon them. This is one of the big reasons why the game has become a joke, not enough manpower to even control the game and oversee the rules properly.
I don’t understand this a bit - is it your private server (there is nothing to deal with just delete them as admin), someone else’s private server (where you have to contact the admin) or the official server ?
Keep reporting.
You might see me gripe about stuff with zendesk, as in you will get a “sorry we so busy hope problem fixed self” often enough. Some one needs to tell funcom admin problems do not fix them selves. But, keep reporting, report several, at several locations, if you can find a good spot and get a screen cap of area showing multiple foundations.
There is an art to reporting, get good screen shots, use your repair hammer to identify the block owner and get a screen shot, go to your map and get a screen shot; with your marker, showing the location.
I’m thinking of using the bat to get areal shots of violations. But the thing is, ToC enforcement is not my job. I’ve suggested a few times funcom needs to go to a restrictive auto enforcement. You know how to stop most people from breaking the rules? Don’t give them the option to. Because a surprising majority will.
But this sort of nonenforcement of the ToC on “official” servers is my #1 gripe. I’d enjoy the public servers far more if I didn’t have to deal with all the mega builds.
Correct. You need to follow up a few times. I’ve made multiple successful reports and most have been acted upon. Unfortunately, they’re not always timely with their actions. It could take a week, it could take a month.
In the end you have to do a cost vs reward analysis. Is the effort to remove this clan worth the energy you put into this instance. If you put only one day in, it’s probably not worth the time waiting on the report since you are probably dead in the water for game play. If you have a few months in, it’s probably worth it.
I know it sucks and not fair but this is the world we all live in…where people get unfairly sued and it’s just easier to settle than litigate your redemption.
Or you can give up after 3 months of “we’re too busy and hope it solved itself” like me and several others did when reporting a clan that’s had foundation and pillar spam all over our entire siptah server for months/years.
Well I guess - although it will sound bad - that if he hasn’t played much it would be easiest to go to another server, I tried several of them besides the main one where I play and everywhere I experienced a friendly atmosphere rather than similarly toxic behavior
It’s going to sound funny but PVE servers in the brutal world of Conan are one of the most peaceful places in online gaming for me personally, especially after years in various team PVP games
@Koschgine Can you send me the server number (and location of your base)? I don’t know if it’s against the rules to post it here - it would have to be confirmed by someone more experienced - but in any case I’m interested and I could check it out, unless it’s a server with mods…
The PVE servers are over built to the point they lag with just a few people on.
I can’t shoot an arrow without hitting some mega build with court yards and halogen lighting.
I’ve never gotten that response, sorry.
It’s gotten worse. There are now effects because they layer different colors and count on the lag in rendering to create a strobe club lighting effect. I have seen 2 servers now using this.
You’re mixing apples and pears , our server has seen a decrease in active players , fewer bases. Including one just down the road from ours that was slowing the game down for me. And even ours is a little smaller since I redesigned it ( and has less parts and lights ) .
And surprisingly.
the server lags …a lot …and that’s with only a few players on the server
The recent AI changes and triggered purges are having a much worse impact on the game than some stupid base that keeps bothering you …
Let me guess! Pve-c?
If it is on pve-c it’s been like this from day one . Old players come back for the new updates and don’t give a dime about the new rules.
Huge land claim spam happens on pve too, but building around to somebody is the usual old pve-c reaction.
Like @DeaconElie said, report it.
If you haven’t spam reports in the past they will respond quickly, worry not.
Ahh if it was just one. Now just one getting a time out might cure half the server issues; IMO, as the majority of the mega discos bases are theirs. They seem to think seniority grant privilege.
People are led by example so everyone wants to build mega, lots of torches, and animated placeables, and dozens of occupied sacrificial tables, and… But when new players see this crap they think it’s OK, so now you have a dozen disco mega builds.
Do people actually read the ToC?
Do they look at the examples?
Well they must because I see to many people building that seem to get their inspiration from there.
The solution is simple. Building restrictions and land clam boxes like so many other games. As long as people can violate the ToC they will, there is nothing stopping them, and the couple of funcom folks trying to handle zendesk can’t keep up. The only other solution would be to hire a dozen more people to manage the reports.
They will answer, it may take some time but they will
This is probably futile … why don’t you just understand that on the PC version for me personally, and I play on a relatively older laptop (Legion) even several relatively large bases at once is not such a problem for gameplay.
But now in even an area that has fewer bases compared to before ( and I have carefully scouted the surroundings to see if there is a mega fortress hidden behind a hill) I often find it harder to play now anyway, not with 10 or 20 people on the server but even with 5 , FC just set something really wrong on the servers and the AI of the companions is generally worse and starts to drop out even with a few people on the server - at a level I previously only experienced when there were maybe 20 people online
Which has what to do with land claim spam?
Land claim spam doesn’t really play in to server lag. And not why it’s against ToC.
I’ve seen 12 people on and the server ping be 55 apx. I’ve seen 12 people on and the server ping be in excess of 200 so I couldn’t join. But ping isn’t necessarily lag.
If you are coming at it from that angle, hoarders cause more server lag then builders. And there is no ToC rule covering that.
Lighting causes more lag then builders.
Lighting and NPC animations are my bane, there are a few builds on my server I avoid because they are lit up like some disco with dancers and it drops my 60±5 fps down to 20 fast. But I’d hesitate to report it because gtx1060 6gig.
And yes the new build has issue and will get worse. The issue is players doing none stop “purges” when they are on. Or some event is going on and on and on because no one is doing it.
Put that on a frame work of 5 years of nonstop building and hording and you have a recipe for disaster.
As it stands I can’t log on after 3PM my time. The server is either over or too close for comfort to a 200 ping. Or I’ll be on and the server lags to the point it is not only frustrating to try to play, but a good way to lose all your loot to a …
While not explicit in ToC it is heavily implied based on interactions on here with staff.
hoardears meaning those who has hundreds of chest? and dozens of vaults full of stuff?
i do believe funcom needs to put limits, (limit how many chest anyone can have could be a solution for official server?
Yes. It has been clarified on the forums a few times by staff that storage especially has a huge impact on lag.
Placeables like large chests each hold 45 items. They’re small, easy to stack and surprisingly a crazy amount can fill a room.
So you can use your imagination there lol
I doubt they’d ever put a placeable limit on Officials. The expectation is you use your space reasonably. What reasonable is from one person to the next does vary.
Although I do not see a point in having chests full of feathers; as an example.
