Logged out character's armor slots map to your own

Game mode: Online official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvE-Conflict
Region: US

I found a newbie who logged out in the open. Whenever that happens during PVP hours, I open their inventory and nose around. If they’re close enough an obelisk, I go home, craft some pink Derketo acolyte robes and then go back and dress them in that.

This time something unusual happened: I noticed they were wearing Executioner’s Hood. “How odd, he happens to be wearing the same thing I do.” I decided to take all his armor off and leave it in his inventory. When I closed his inventory and opened mine, I noticed my hood was missing.

I stuck around some more, testing this with different bits of armor. It turns out that any empty armor slots are somehow mapped onto yours. If you don’t touch them, everything is fine. If you do, you’re interacting with your own slots instead of theirs.

Also, the 3D model displayed is yours, not theirs, and the thirst and hunger bars too.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Find someone who logged out in the open.
  2. Open their inventory. Notice any empty armor slots.
  3. Close their inventory.
  4. Open their inventory again. Notice those empty armor slots are now filled with the armor you are wearing.
  5. Close their inventory.
  6. Open your own inventory. Notice that all your armor is still there.
  7. Close your inventory.
  8. Open their inventory again.
  9. Strip their armor and leave it in their inventory.
  10. Close their inventory.
  11. Open your own inventory again. Notice that your armor is missing.
