Looks of female char

Haha. Yeah… The absurdities abound.
A forum for a game with full nudity, murder, blood, gore, dismemberment, slavery, etc. Yet you can’t say certain words. It’s interesting how the most offensive thing in existence is words… Just words…

Please explain how the Nordheimer and the Darfari I customized in the video look “vastly” different.

In the wise words of @Enyo:

In Darfari camps everyone looks like a Darfari, sure. Same with Nordheimer settlements, etc.
But in the mixed race camps, the appearances of each race can vary wildly, so much so that it’s sometimes impossible to tell the difference. It seems like their appearances are randomized. Races aren’t unique for players or NPCs.

Edited for clarity. I hope.

Yeah, I’d appreciate different builds. Not all women have hourglass shapes or that type of curvature. Not all men have beefy Adonis builds, either. Some people are slender or husky. And having some varying options for fat distribution(ie extra energy reserves and weight that burns less energy than muscle)

I mean, hunger gatherer band societies don’t really spend that much time gathering resources, and have more time for leisure. Some people, via set point, metabolize and store energy in different ways. Quite a few societies value fat/weight/ample bodies as being a sign of wealth or fertility. There are also heavier athletes, so it’s not out of the question to have these as options.

It’s weird because if you hit the button to look at your character’s inventory they look normal. Otherwise they look fake at bigger sizes.

Already did. The Darfari has a much wider nose as its base line.

The body types remain the same, I already agreed that was an issue.

And there are nose sliders that can be used to make them look the same.
My point is obviously being missed. Oh well, I give up.

Why is that a problem?

The actress that played Valkyrie in the third Thor movie was a mixture of Scottish, German, and Irish decent alongside Mexican(Native) and Afro-Panamanian descent. She displays features from every bit of those heritages.

Segregation wasn’t entirely strong in the Age of Hyboria, cross breeding happened and can easily be attributed to the sliders allow such extremes. If mixed hertiage is something you dislike in Conan Exiles, that’s entirely your opinion to make.

Its not mine though.

Mixed heritage is fine and also not the point.

The point myself and others were trying to make is that there is absolutely no reason (other than RP) to choose one race over another. None of them have anything unique about them except for the description.

Conan Exiles takes place in the Hyborian Age. That’s roughly about 10,000-12,000 years ago in the ‘real’ world. The in game races are literally real world races with different cultural names.

Knowing that, there isn’t a terrible alot of differences between races. The base is, and that’s even shown in your video, when you select a race, they DO look different when you select between them. But you have the option to move sliders in extreme ways or change skin colors.

You’re asking to restrict those to be more like variations the ‘base’. There’s no need for that. This isn’t Warcraft, Everquest, or other fantasy. We’re all playing humans. The ‘race’ is mostly cultural and heritage than actual different species.

Couple that with interbreeding and you’re going to see similarities across the board if players would like to select that.

I’m asking for there to be something unique about each race.

If we’re choosing a mixed-race character, great. That should be a separate selection with its own description and own set of features.

And it doesn’t ‘have’ to be appearance that’s unique. It could be anything that’s meaningful, which the description is not as you’re never going to see it again.

I was merely using appearance as an example because there’s nothing else.

As it is, they could do away with race selection entirely and it wouldn’t change anything.

And I’m just asking for more facial and hair options, and a very slim chance of more body sliders (especially for guys). There is like 5 faces to choose from, and there’s not much that the sliders can do from those besides make them look goofy or normal. There is very limited beard and hair options as well. Enough to warrant that there is a character creator, but nothing outstanding…

It is better than some (maybe most) other survival games but they could still make it so much better.
People have given many good ideas across several different threads.

I think something like each race having their own selection of cultural tattoos or other markings would be nice.
Also more hairstyles and stuff like others have mentioned.
