An option to turn the daylight into nighttime when creating your character.
What would be the benefit of this?

Just variety
Well I believe you can already set up some very short days and long nights by tweaking settings in the admin panel, and I believe you can also disable or minimize the “automatic daylight when first starting out” part (immediately following character creation it’s always bright daylight irrespective of the rest of the server’s actual time).
I’m away from my PC so I can’t remember the precise name of the settings, nor will I claim any great experience with them, so YMMV but that’s where I’d start.
