Make warpaint permanent(til death)

I would be happy if they just stacked…like in your inventory, not the stat boosts.

I think Funcom puts too much thought into simple things like this.
Making warpaints permanent until death would make the game more fun. That’s a no brainer.

Just found out today that siptah warpaints buff multiple stats. These warpaints I would say need to be time limited. Maybe not as short as thirty minutes, but it would create a nice balance for warpaints. The “low” end base warpaints that only give +3 in a stat are kept til death, while the warpaints that buff multiple stats only last a predetermined amount of time.

An alternative to time-limits on warpaint is to make some sort of throwable detergent that will neutralize a players buffs.

This could be a throwable that only certain NPC’s use for a unique challange…

but primarily, this would be a different tactic for PvP.

Of course, some people might say that’s rough on players who rely on warpaints, but it requires planning to neutralize that tactic. If it still doesn’t balance quite right, the detergent could have a side effect of making characters hit by it resistant to flames and poison… then you couldn’t just neutralize someone’s warpaints… AND burn/poison them. Of course, people might carry potions around to douse teammates then, when dealing with fire/poison… too complicated?

It maybe have a weapon with a cleansing type ability but instead of removing poison and such have it strip your opponent of their buffs as a good hard counter to warpaints and the like. If that is what it took to have war paint be permanent until death the. I would say it’s a price well paid

Code mage i would love your take on this topic, you seem a reasonable sort.

Unless it rains or you go into the drink. Or if you are in a snow storm and sweat in your furs or sweat in the desert. That kind of thing or if you have it on for 4 to 5 game days (wear off).

Warpaints are magic symbols that embue the player with temp buffs like a spell. Do you expect aloe potion to last forever also? Or any other potion for that matter or orb.

It makes sense that the effect of a potion wears off after a time. And yes I do agree that water and sweat and the like would wash all but the toughest of paints away. But as I’ve stated in a post further up this topic, realism is a paper thin argument in a world full of unrealistic things. Not only that you even refer to them as magic then precede to claim they should be realistic. So which is it should they be magical or realistic?

At some point many many patches ago warpaints we’re keep until death. Admittedly it was a bug but before it was fixed it was great. And I can with 100% confidence say that not a single person was concerned with them being keep until death. So why not again? What harm would it do? As far as I can see it it wouldn’t break the balance of the game. All it would do is give us as players one more layer of customization with our builds and that is the ultimate goal of wanting this feature changed.

As others have already said, warpaints used to stay on until death or until removed or replaced by another warpaint. At one point, if I am not completely mistaken, they changed the functional warpaints to be temporary, but left the decorative warpaints permanent. And then later, they made them all temporary, and ridiculously short at that. At least, this is how I remember it, but it’s been a long time now, so I might be wrong.

At any rate, I never understood why we ended up at this extreme where we are now. You could at least debate whether the functional warpaints should be temporary or not, using the same arguments that @Sairdontis expressed above, but there was never any reason to make decorative warpaints temporary.

Personally, I think decorative warpaints should be permanent and functional warpaints should be temporary, but not as short-lived as they are. This is completely unbalanced when you consider the costs. I don’t know what the right duration should be, but the current duration makes functional warpaints useless. Maybe 1 day? Or several days?

Indeed, I won’t lie, personally I want them to be kept on death. In my mind that is the most optimal an outcome. But I would be perfectly happy if they lasted the same time or slightly longer than a potion. However if they were made on par with a potion then I would also argue they would need a crafting requirement balance pass as they are extremely expensive to make.

Right, there are at least two options that would make things more balanced:

  • Keep the same duration, but decrease the cost.
  • Maintain the cost, but increase the duration.

I’d prefer if they stack in your inventory and the duration to be the same with elixirs but a decrease in cost. I don’t really care much though, it’s just what would suit me personally. My 2 cents.

Edit: I should clarify that I’m referring to Warpaints that raise your attributes and require Dragonpowder to craft. I don’t give a rat’s behind for the RP ones.

I tend use them as time limited items… Several of designs I don’t care for. I tend restart game when I die…
I’d prefer they wear off on timer, then be perma.

Thou if we got “soap” as item to wash off the effects, I’d be happy with that as a fix.

I’ll reply for funcom no no and no never gonna happen its not balanced :astonished:

Renaming decorative warpaints in tattoos, and functional ones should be bit simpler, use less silly ingredients to make.
Sure they should have a price, but balanced to fit other existing buffs. I think make them last till dead is simpler than a timer, that can go brrr at some point again.

True, though I am sorry Mr. Mage that I didn’t realize the decorative war paints were temporary so as I always forgot to use them. I do won’t why we can not tattoo or scar mark our characters either.
