Making Climbing Great Again

Hope you’ll forgive the title…

Basically, I love being able to climb in Conan. My first survivor game was ARK and not being able to climb in that was frustrating.
Love the new climbing animation, too.

However, climbing up to a ledge can be frustratingly difficult. From changing direction while hanging with your hands from the ledge above you, to simply falling down instead of climbing on top of the ledge, it’s been pretty frustrating to get on top of things.

Think you guys could make it easier/more responsive? Maybe not automatic climbing like Assassin’s Creed and the likes, but at least for the “getting on top of the ledge” part?

Personally don´t like the new animations. Maybe they are more “realistic”. But I my opinion way less fun then before.

Dont forget to hold the climb button. The bug that makes you let go at random still sucks, after sucking for over 3 years.

As @WeWantImprovements pointed out, if you hold down the climb button while climbing this won’t happen. There have been several videos on YT about this over the years as well.

If you are referring to the orientation of your character yeah it is strange but doesn’t really change things much. Just keep climbing and you’ll get up.

It would be nice sure. But I get the feeling there are more important bugs that effect the game more severely than this. Not that I’m saying they SHOULDN’T fix this or even improve it, just that they do have a list of priorities which they don’t exactly share with the community and there is no way to know where this specific issue lies on said list. My guess would not be overly high though.

Yes getting to the top of. climbe with like 2% stam left and the jump straight up and just fall is bothersome. A work around is to move camera view to a top down view at a slight angle. Helps most of the time. But definitely need to be addressed, as I have fell to my death when scaling lollipop bases because of it.

I used to love to climb but the constant dilemma is they damn well break climbing every 2 patches, like hell just leave climbing completely alone funcom, would like to have at least 2 or 3 patches drop without them breaking climbing as usual

Like why is climbing ALWAYS being played with every patch, just stop and leave it alone!

To add more detail to what @biggcane55 suggested - I find moving the camera angle at the top of a climb makes a huge difference - I haven’t fallen in a long long time. What I do, is start the climb as normal, generally looking up towards the character so I’ve got a sense of where the top of the climb is. As I start getting to the top, I roll the mouse forward a little, to bring the camera view to more or less directly behind, so I can see as I’m reaching the edge. The just roll the mouse a little further forward, so the camera is now looking down from a little above and behind the character - as a result the character jumps up and forward over the ledge, rather than just trying to jump straight up and missing.

It’s honestly really simple (my explanation probably makes it sound more complicated than it is) - just a matter of gently rolling that camera view forward a little while climbing as normal. (Worth noting that ‘climbing as normal’ for me always involves holding the climb button the whole time, in addition to the direction, but that hardly seems like a lot of extra effort - I just press it at the start of the climb and don’t take my thumb off it till the climb is finished.)
