For a long time I’vealways wondered if they were going to add to the map with the giant blank spot at the top of the map, I feel a map DLC could be a great addition even if its a paid for DLC
In fact it’s not blank. It contains some dungeons: Dregs, Volcano dungeon, some cave passages which have loading screens. If you make yourself Admin in single player you can become ghost, fly there through Curse Wall and dive into textures to explore (but you will die when admin-teleporting back into the playable zone).
Thats still not playable then. Maybe it was generated or whatever but still not “part” of the game
Here are some details about the “it’s where the dungeons are” part:
A map expansion was/is possible in UE4. The new UE5 map is much, much bigger and has space for much, much more stuff.
There’ve been a problem with building over the Sinner’s refuge - player structures blocked NPC spawn so they had to make one more no-building zone there. Maybe they moved dungeons outside to prevent building over them, or this could be done to prevent players of getting into dungeons by undermeshing.
the other problem with having dungeons under the map is that world composition streaming only respects the x and y axis. so if a player is over top the dungeons, they will be rendered client side, even if they arent in the dungeon and cant actually see it. it’s bad for performance. offmap dungeon zones solve this.
but to Khaletohep’s point, there is still space in the northeast that doesnt have dungeons there, and is just unused.
with the new regions system they built to be able to have exiled lands and siptah in the same persistent level, there is now the ability to have even more regions. so instead of fighting to expand exiled lands, there can potentially be future DLC maps that are outside of the currently used world space and can be traveled to and fro the same way we can travel between EL and siptah. map modders are already at work to make new regions, but official DLC maps are more possible now than ever.
Has that expansion been updated for enhanced?
True, and that amazing
He’s working on it, afaik.
