Bug Description: Meteor Location at -206808.96875 -148114.671875 3807.263672 partway up the mountainside to the Yimir trainer is placed in such a way that it is 1/2 of the way inside a Point of Interest “No Build” zone which keeps you from using an explosive jar to crack the meteor.
Bug Reproduction: Placement bug, would not change.
Yeah, I’m not sure this is really a bug. If you have a preference for using explosive jars over the cheaper explosive arrows or even demon-fire orbs, that’s fine, but you won’t be able to harvest a meteorite in a no-build zone.
Like I mentioned, it’s only 1/2 the way in it, just the half you need to place the explosive jar (because I haven’t unlocked explosive arrows or gained a T3 Alchemist) is inside the POI location.
There’s no reason it shouldn’t allow the most basic explosive.
I think it would be fun if the game allowed you to place explosive jars and traps anywhere, even in no-build zones, however, that would be a suggestion, not a bug.
Not a bug, since meteors do NOT have fixed spawn-points. They fall in groups with a slightly randomized angle and they actually trace to the surface as they fall and create the harvestable meteor node.
So there’s no permanent spawnpoint for them, they could end up anywhere in that area.
And like others have suggested explosive jars are only one (the most expensive) potential way of opening them… any explosive damage from anything will do… so demonfire orbs… explosive arrows… etc. and those don’t require placement.
There is no map that can give exact spawn points because there are no exact spawn points. Maps can only show an area where it is possible for meteors to land.
Thank Crom they are random and not set locations all the time or you can imagine the blocking, etc that would prevail I ignore those and go for the ones I do find. Besides, some that hit in hard to see places are also effectively ‘unavailable’. Not a bug.
Those maps are just suggestions based on where people have seen them just to point out the general area.
There you go… there’s the code for it literally tracing to the ground and spawning the meteor at runtime… and not activating some fixed spawnpoint… I don’t know what’s this new trend where I explain how something works but people feel the need to argue about it
